Chapter #6

Magician

You scramble to your feet, asking the first of a dozen questions "Who are you? What is going on? Why..." Eventually you quiet down. Those approaching show no sign that they understand you. [Figures. The ancients often stayed all their lives within a mile of their birthplace. Only the locals spoke the local tongue, and they often spoke no other.] They don't look interested in trying either.

Instead of asking more questions that won't be answered, you look over those approaching. All but one are quickly identified as soldiers of some sort. Their weapons look middle ageist, tho you can only guess if they are utilitarian or for show. [You recall a picture of the Queen of England that had included some ceremonial guards bearing weapons like their's.] The somewhat oldest one of them might be in charge of them.

However, it is the different figure in the center who is clearly in charge of the entire group. The soldiers may surround him, but they still follow the path he is taking.
A noise from behind causes you to look at the dragon, who has adopted a pose which, while not necessarily servile, shows it is aware of the man's approach, and is reacting to it. The man makes no such acknowledgment the dragon is even present. His attention is focused on you, and not in a particularly friendly way.

Physically he is not a particularly impressive individual. Definitely on the far side of 50 and not in prime physical shape, he was rather ordinary. She would have never noticed him in any crowd, if he were wearing clothing she was used to. Now that of course is very much a point. The costume he is wearing is very much the picture of the fantasy wizard, complete with pointed had and long beard. But magicians are impossible, aren't they?
Aren't dragons impossible too?

Magician or not, he is running the show. At a word, two of the soldiers grab you, gently perhaps, but quite firmly. You make a quick attempt to get free, but realize quickly enough that you are going nowhere and subside.
The mage? now does some strange gestures, meaningless to you, and says some words that seem even more meaningless. When he is done, he opens his mouth wide and then points to you, clearly demanding you do the same. When you hesitate to obey, he gestures to another soldier who advances with a weird device, whose function you fear you know. It seems you can surrender with your dignity or without. You choose with, and open your mouth.

Something goes into it, and for a moment you try to spit it out. But at the order "Swallow!", you do so, before realizing you had understood the command.

"Now then. You are the slave of Snarvar here." He gestures at the dragon casually. "You will do as he says and will stay in his quarters." With that, he turns and leaves, as if you are a matter of no importance. Your demand he wait and explain...well anything... is ignored.

With no idea what else to do, you turn to consider your new "master".

You have the following choices:

1. dragon is a kid

2. other
