Crouching, as Michelle had done to pick up the strange ring, Grace ignores the jewelry, and picks up her diminished friend with her thumb on her chest and her index finger on her back. As she lifts her best friend in to the air, Grace's fingers nervously twitch, afraid of accidentally applying too much pressure, and crushing her friend's chest cavity. Her whole body, really, Grace's thumb almost as large as Michelle's entire body now. Michelle, for her part, frantically struggles, screaming, panicing, the prospect of having shrunk so small, so suddenly, and now being lifted up by her gargantuan best friend overwhelming her. Standing up, Michelle now (to her) hundreds of feet above the ground, Grace slowly raises Michelle to her face, turning her over slowly, her free palm beneath her miniscule friend, should she fall.
"Oh my God, Michelle, look at you!" Grace said, her eyes wide.
"Put me down, oh God, what happened!?!" Michelle screeched, her tiny voice reaching Grace's ears, causing her to giggle, despite Michelle's panic. Her little friend was just too cute. Suddenly, the bus rounds the corner, slowing to a stop. In a hurry, Grace bends down, picks up the ring, and slips it in her pocket, careful not to get it on her finger.
