Knuckles had been guarding the Master Emerald, making sure nothing would happen to it. But he was beaten and worn out beyond repair. "Geez." He huffed as he wiped his forehead, sweat oozed all over him. He had spent the last week doing nothing but stopping Rouge from trying to steal the master Emerald. He had all ready stopped three hundred and twenty seven attempts within the past SEVEN DAYS! And it looked like she wouldn't be stopping until she got what she wanted. It was a battle of endurance and Knuckles was losing the war. He had even gone without sleeping, because Rouge always sent that former Eggman robot to attack during the day when she rested. And she would finish his work during the night.
"Huff huff huff" Knuckles breathed as he laid near the Master Emerald. He was so exhausted! Just one little nap wouldn't hurt? "No. One nap wouldn't-" Knuckles did not finish his sentence, and had fallen in a deep sleep.
And as if fate was a cruel demon. A mysterious figure had opened a hold into the underground temple through the roof. A helicopter was high above the hole. And the mysterious figure began to glide down to the Emerald, and the figure was none other than Rouge. "Seems poor Knux couldn't handle little ol me for so long!" Rouge cooed in triumph as the helicopter sent a large claw down that grabbed the Master Emerald, lifting it into the flying machine. Rouge then pulled something out of her pocket, a note and a vial. "This will keep his preoccupied. After all, poor Knuckles here is the most gullible man in the world." And with that she was off to the Helicopter. And in seconds both her and the machine were long gone.
Knuckles woke up twenty hours later, his body attempting to make up for all the sleep he had lost. "Aaaah." Knuckles yawned as he got up, rubbing his eye of the crust that had hardened around it. "That was the best nap I've ever-" Knuckles turned around. Only to stare dumbstruck at the empty space that once stood the Master Emerald. "WHO STOLE THE MASTER EMERALD!?!" Roared Knuckles. Within seconds every bird on the island was gone, the sound of the raging Knuckles sending them off. After releasing some of his rage, Knuckles noticed a note and a vial had been exchanged for it. Bending down, he grabbed the note and read it.
Sorry Knuckles but I need to borrow the Master Emerald for a while. I hope this vial makes up for it! Catch ya later!-Sonic The Hedgehog
"Curse you Sonic!!!" Shouted Knuckles in a bloodthirsty rage as he slammed his fist into the ground, the impact causing a small crater to appear beneath him and sent the same into a earthquake. "Just to teach you a lesson for stealing the Master Emerald! I'll not only use this vial but I'll take back the Master Emerald and split your head in two!" With that Knuckles pulled out the cork lid and drank the vials containments. A light green liquid ooze into Knuckles mouth. Finishing the contents whole, Knuckles smacked his lips together as he tossed the vial. "Aaah! That stuff was delicious! It had a sweet taste of Honey. And now to teach Sonic a lesson!" And with that Knuckles was off to Sonics home. Ready to teach that Blue Spikey freak a lesson in not taking other peoples precious things, completely forgetting that Rouge was after the Emerald less than a day ago.
