Tohru was very nervous; she knew of the dangers that could result from what she was about to undertake, but saw no alternative. She had to reason with Akito to help free the Sohma family of some of the darker aspects of the zodiac curse, most of which Akito had caused himself, though Tohru would not allow herself to think that way.
He had chosen the place for the rendevous; only he and Tohru would meet there and passersby wouldn't think anything strange if they spoke quietly enough. However there was one thing he hadn't counted on... Hana, Tohru's dangerously empathic friend.
Hana was originally going shopping until she felt a strong surge of electrical waves. One pattern was familiar as Tohru Honda, who seemed to be emitting stress and desperation; the other was unfamiliar to her and carried intense feelings of anger and hatred. Both of these wave patterns seemed to be focused on one particular spot. Hana immdiately set for this location
At their meeting Tohru continually talked about the importance of respecting fellow humans, regardless of their condition, and also expressed a strong moral feeling to help anyone in need, even if all she could do is give comfort to those in need. Akito wouldn't hear of it. Initially he would just shrug off her arguments before putting forward a cold-hearted motivation to leave things as they were. When Hana arrived Akito was becoming more confrontational; he started snapping at Tohru, demanding his right to boss the Sohma family around, to continue advocating the curse of the zodiac and to ensure that the cat remains seperate from the zodiac community. Tohru's pleas for peace and love amongst the Sohmas only infuriates him further and he pulls at her hair again.
"Hey!" Hana cries out in shock and anger. "Leave my Tohru alone!" Akito looks up at Hana in surprise but doesn't give her a second thought.
"There's nothing you can do!" He replies. "I'll be done by the time the police arrive and they're more likely to listen to me than you!" That was too much. Seeing her good friend being abused and receiving such arrogance from someone so mean, Hana unleashed her most formidable weapon.
The electro-poison waves struck Akito hard, causing him to lose conscoiusness and release Tohru. However Tohru had caught the recoil from Akito and fell with a feeling like she had been punched in the stomach, but not too serverely. Something else had happened; Tohru could feel a strange sensation inside her.
