Chapter #4

Not much time for family bonding

    by: chaos Author IconMail Icon
It’s obvious that your not going anywhere, your mom’s making a ‘special’ dinner for you, your sisters about to come home and you really don’t want to face any of your friends with the grim news. No, what you want right now is to stay home, spend time with your family and try to go out with dignity. Holding onto your dignity may be a little hard because your clothes are getting baggy very quickly. Your shirt used to be a little tight on your chest, but now it looked like you’re wearing a shirt two sizes to big. It’s really a bummer to know you’ll look like a midget in over sized clothes before you die.

The front door opens and you hear someone stomping into the living room. You turn to see your sister standing there, wearing her soccer uniform and gaping at you. “What happened?” She almost screams at seeing you nearly half a foot shorter. Your parents come running in when they hear your sister scream. Dad goes over to your sister to calm her down, while your mother hangs back to give you support. You kind of wish she’d give you some room, ever since coming from the doctor she’s either been smothering you with affection or trying to make you as happy as possible. It’s not that you don’t appreciate her, it’s just you wish she wouldn’t hug you so tightly to her bosom so much. You might soon be shrinking to the size of a baby, but that didn’t mean you wanted to be breast fed.

Looking back to your sister, you see her talking quickly to your dad about what is happening. You zone out, not needing to hear the details of your death sentence again. Instead, you think about your sister and the relationship you have with her. Calling your sister your friends is a little bit of an overstatement. There is no hate between you either, just a healthy sibling rivalry. You’re the older brother by two years, making her fourteen going on fifteen. Your reluctant to admit it, but your sister can be best described as a future babe. Right now, she’s just incredibly cute with freckles, curly brown hair, big blue eyes and a slim figure that was budding quickly into adulthood. She had finished with her training bra last year and had worked her way from an A to a C since. Because of her maturing body, she has been wearing reveling clothes to school that are quickly making her very popular with the boys.

Her personality matches her body, sweet with a hint of something dirtier. To most people she could be the most adorable person in the world, but she thrives on attention and loved for those around her to look upon her at all times. It was her controlling attitude that caused most of your arguments. She wanted to be in charge of you, but you always fought back. That might be harder now that you’re shrunken down to her size.

“Oh my God, is it true bro?” Your sister says and rushes towards you. For the first time ever, your eye to eye with your little sister, something you know she’d have once loved to take advantage of, but right now that was the furthest thought from her mind. Smiling sadly at her, you nod once to answer her. Before you know what’s going on, your sister embraces you in a huge hug, wrapping her arms around your back tightly. You hug her back, happy that she’s dropped any sibling rivalry in your time of need.

“Thanks, I really needed that. But could you put me down? I don’t need you lifting me up to remind me off how small I am.” You tell your sister and pat her on the back several times to tell her to let go. She looks at you, not breaking the hug, with a confused look on her face. “I didn’t pick you up.”

“What are you talking about, my feet are hanging in the air?” You laugh at whatever joke your sister is playing on you, not finding it funny at all. You look into your sister’s face noticing that it seems bigger then it did a moment ago. Behind you, your mother gasps in shock. Getting scared fast, you look to see that your sisters arms grow wider around you quickly, seeming to expand a few centimeters every second. It hits you why your feet are dangling, your shrinking in your sisters embrace. Your not the only one that notices, your sisters cries out in surprise and drops you. For what should be a foot feels a lot longer as you hit the floor hard. Everything starts to black out. You’re passing out, either because of the fall or because of the steady rate of shrinking. The last thing you hear is your father screaming to your sister.

“Quick, Jessica, get a damp cloth. Your brother’s passing…” You miss the rest because the blackness envelopes your world and you go into a deep sleep. Hopefully, when you wake up, you won’t be batting away dust bunnies the size of tumble weeds. So much for keeping your dignity, you’re heading towards Small Town fast and then Microscopevile, before reaching the land of Nothing.

You have the following choices:

1. You wake up a few feet tall

2. You wake up about half a foot tall

3. You wake up and are only half an inch tall
