Ten years later it was Monster's birthday. He looked forward to this day greatly because of what his present would be, and what it always was. Monster waited patenently for his father to return to town and smiled when he finally did.
His father glarred at him as he always did and gave a deep sigh before walking over to Monster and saying coldly, "I suppose your wanting your present now?"
"Yes father," Monster said meekly.
Bowhan flinched, he hated it when the monster called him that, he hated any remindeders that the monster was his. Bowhan sighed and wrapped his arms around the dragon's neck briefly in a short hug and backed away quickly.
"Now go out side and make yourself useful you damned monster!" Bowhan said pointing to the cave's mouth.
Monster smiled and nodded walking outside to gather wood and water for Bowhan. The hug was always his present, the one time his father willingly touched him that wasn't a punch or a kick. Since this was all he had ever known he never once thought of his father as a bad one or one that hated him.
