Setting Out

Bowhan stiffened his resolve quietly. He would find that woman, bring her the child and leave. His life would be otherwise unaffected, except perhaps in the deep recesses of his mind where his psyche would forever both recoil and cling to memories of last night.

Scooping up the bundle of blankets, Bowhan returned to his home briefly, just long enough to collect his usual gear, the various supplies and weapons he brought along on his monster hunting expeditions. He would need those, he reasoned. Seeking a monster, carrying a monster; there were bound to be dangers involved. But really, how hard could it be to find the woman? She was only the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Monster.

And so Bowhan found himself on the path leading out of his village, holding a writhing bundle of monstrosity. He sighed, and set out...
