To the cliffs

"I can't care for this thing, and I'm sure no one else would want to take care of something that can't die, will grow to an enormous height, and can burst anything into flames if it wanted to. This is too dangerous to keep. I should just leave it somewhere where no one would find it, it's not like it can starve to death. Luckily, I know a secluded cave far enough distance from the town. No one would bother it there, and there will be no reason for it to attack the town or other monster things they do to towns," Bowhan thought.

Bowhan kept telling himself that he was doing this for the town's safety, but deep down inside, he didn't want the phoenix child to be harmed. Bowhan knew that the thing was still his daughter. (Yes, the phoenix is a girl.) He didn't want her to get into trouble with the town, because if that happened, the town would send another hunter to kill her and the hunter wouldn't be as merciful as Bowhan.

As Bowhan covered the phoenix child up, the phoenix grabbed his fingers and cuddled with them. The phoenix was still sound asleep. Bowhan really began to feel guilty for all this, but he had to do it. It was the only thing he could do. He escaped the grasp and covered the phoenix up.

Eventually, he made it to the cliff and he climbed up to the top still carrying the phoenix. He entered the cave that was at the top of the massive cliff. The cave had been the home of the phoenix he had killed earlier. Bowhan found the where the creature had slept and he set his phoenix down there. The phoenix child no longer looked human. It looked just like a normal phoenix chick, but with all the feathers. Bowhan stroked the birds feathers and whispered in its ear, "I'm sorry, but it has to be this way." Bowhan left the child alone.
