Chapter #5

Charge!

    by: Gildedtongue Author IconMail Icon
Starglint was tired of waiting, and wanted to settle the score as soon as possible. With the call of Bloodwrath overcoming the brock, the new lord took both of his hands to his blade, charging out into the clearing before the cave entrance.

The ebon blade of Efreeti sang a sharp whistle, and the first weasel guard was felled before even a word was spoken. The dull thud of his skull on the soft peat caused the nearby rats to shriek in alarm. The weasels pounced towards Starglint, polearms shining in the air, easily blocked by the beserk badger. The fiery song of Efreeti lashed out, running across the belly of one of the adversaries, opening him up like a Christmas present. Several rats jumped upon his back, burying their daggers into the badger's shoulders, making him roar in pain. Starglint quickly undid his cloak, now naked before his enemies, chopping his blade down upon his dropped cloak several times before the contents underneath it stopped squirming and the brown fabric was stained red.

Starglint shrugged off several darts and bolts that shrieked into his hide, sprinting to the three crossbowmen near the cave's maw. Before the rats had time to reload, the badger's massive hand descended upon one rat, crushing his skull, his blade dispatched the other two with one weighty blow.

The rest of the guard and patrol fled into the woods, leaving behind weapons and whatever would weigh them down as Starglint stood before the cave maw, roaring out a challenge. The badger was caked in blood both his own and from his prey. An annoyed grunt rumbled from his chest as he pulled out a bolt from his shoulder.

The enemy knew where he was. The time for subtlety had ended, the time for death had just begun.

You have the following choices:

1. Charge in after them, leave them no ground to retreat to.

2. Wait for them to come into the open.
