You see your daughter Katy in the mirror, you reach up and touch your face. It is you! The machine actually worked.
"It worked! It worked!" Your old body screeches to Katy's friend Julie. They both start jumping up and down screaming.
"What's going on here," you try to say in your best mom voice. "OUCH!!!, these damn braces cut my cheek!" You can taste the blood in your mouth as you run your tongue across the cut.
Katy in your old body looks at Julie and they both start laughing. "Yeah they'll do that, those braces suck."
You realize you've lost control of the situation, you feel so helpless and awkward.
Katy in your old body looks at you and says, "Look Mom, I am not popular, I am a social pariah! We are going to throw the ultimate party here tonight. I need this to be popular and I know you would never say yes. So I am now you and it’s going to happen. You are going to help me! You will pretend to be me! You will do nothing to embarrass me! You will hang out and flirt with the boys that I tell you to flirt with! You will not talk to the boys I tell you not to talk to, because God knows you will want to talk to them because you are such a nerd sometimes Mom. Do you understand me?"
"Wow, you sound just like your Mom, Katy....Even have that authority thing that she has." Julie says to your old body.
"I know, I never felt so in control as I do now, I can't believe this. Lets go to the mall and get some supplies, this party will be fantastic,” Your old body says as she pulls out a credit card and a driver’s license. "Also with this I can drive and also get some other supplies."
Julie and your old body go off laughing.
You are totally dumbfounded, why couldn't you stand up to them? What are you going to do? This can't be happening.
'They are so grounded, when I get my body back' you think to yourself
You feel so angry, you walk over to the body switching machine as you keep adding up the years that Katy will be grounded. The machine is dark.
‘They must have shut it off while you were over at the mirror.’ You think to yourself as you find the power switch. You flip the switch; the machine starts lighting back up. You walk over to the computer screen and it has a cursor flashing. You hear the hard drive grinding away. You shut off the machine and restart it and the same thing happens
"CRAP! ...This can't be happening!"
You can't call your husband he's away at work for the weekend and can't get back, besides he won't believe you. He'll think you are pulling his leg since you both watched Freaky Friday last weekend.
You pace back and forth and decide you have 3 choices:
-You can go with it for now and do your best to keep the situation under control. Hope that Julie and Katy did something to the machine so it won’t start up
-The second choice is, you call up Katy and Julie and tell them that the machine is broken and hope they can help you fix it. If they aren’t the ones who sabotaged the machine to keep you from switch back in the first place.
-or the only other choice you can think of right now is to look through the notebook and see if there is a way to get it working again and switch with some sort of authority figure like Zack's Mom Misty or Tara's teacher Rebecca.
