"Oh she's fine" Greg says reassuringly. "I was just experimenting a little with this device." He shows her the aging remote. "Greg! Honestly, one of these days one of your gadgets is going to get someone killed." She sighs and claims a chair in the living room. "So, tell me. What's it do?"
"It can change the age of any person. I was testing it on myself and, well, there were some ill-considered side-effects" Greg, getting more and more enthusiastic about his creation, started to ramble. "You see, there is this universal constant of logic that cannot be breached or circumvented. So what the device does is use this potential energy and steers the probability of events towards a direction. Instead of actually changing anything, it warps reality into a new state where the desired situation is already in effect."
Lola just gave him a blank stare. "Right...What I understood is this: It changes stuff? Stuff like age?" Her face broke into a smile. "Prove it. Make me a year older."
"As you wish." He said, and pointed the remote at her. He upped her years by one and looked at her expectantly. There were minor changes in her figure. She grew a couple of inches, her breasts seemed to blossom out and her make-up was done a little bit more expertly. "So, how old do you feel?"
"17, Greg... Just like a minute ago." She walked over to the bathroom to check herself out. "Nope, no changes." Greg looked at the remote, then at Lola. He was pretty sure she was the same age as Lily, which was 16."What age do you think Lily is?"
She shrugged. "Your sister? I dunno... 16, right? Why?"
"She's your best friend! You used to be the same age. She's the reason you're here right now, right?" Greg exclaimed.
She just laughed at this. "What are you talking about, she's in an entirely different group. Don't get me wrong, she's a nice girl. But we're hardly friends. You know full well why I'm here, Greg." She said, looking more and more amused. "You can't fool me with an obviously fake gadget like that. We've been going steady for too long for me to fall for that."
