Snatching a Spider

    by: chaos Author IconMail Icon
Don’t you just hate jealous exs? They get clingy and jealous, wanting to either hurt you or get you back. They can do crazy things and what can you do, but try and deal with it the best you can without making it worse. Exs can be the worst, but for Peter Parker, also known as the Spectacular Spider-Man, he had the worst case of jealous ex in the world. His ex wasn’t some prissy woman, but a black symbiote suit that wouldn’t leave him alone.

The symbiote, or Venom as it called himself when various people that wanted to kill the spider were wearing it, only wanted one thing, to be back with Peter. It had been worn by him for years before being rudely pulled off. It left it bitter and a little blood thirsty for revenge, but it still wanted to be with Peter, anyway it could. It had tried hurting him for many years, using people like Eddie Brock and the first Scorpion, but it had only pushed it’s first love away. The symbiote was a simple creature and it wanted Peter, putting him in life threatening danger hadn’t worked, so it considered another approach.

Over the years, it had experienced much with its hosts, but none of them could compare to its first. His latest host was a real freak that had started eating people while wearing him. Now, the symbiote had no problem swallowing people, but his host liked to tear them apart and chew them up. That left the black suit feeling sick. Eating people was something it had always been able to do, but it only enjoyed swallowing live prey like a snake. Tearing and chewing prey came unnaturally to it and it hated doing it.

Constantly, it tried changing his host’s preference to try swallowing prey instead, but his mind was too distorted to listen. After it’s host started gnawing on squirrels like they were popcorn, the symbiote became desperate to find a better host; a more stable host.

It was ready to simply leave the crazy, maniac it was stuck to and try it’s luck with the first person that wanted a shiny black alien suit, when fate smiled on it. Spider-Man, his first and preferred host, had spotted his current host eyeing a couple of girl scouts like they were cookies and had started to fight him. Punches were thrown and words were exchanged, the symbiote wasn’t listening as it tried to come up with a way to return to Peter without being removed. It couldn’t simple hop back on Peter, it would be ripped off before it could get attached. It needed to come up with a plan not involving forcing itself or trying to kill Peter. This was a completely new idea for it.

Time was running out, its current host was losing, again. It needed to come up with something and then an idea hit it. It was time to think outside of its tiny box.

“Come on Venom, you can do better then this. By now you’re usually throwing convertibles at me,” Spider-Man joked as he crawled up the side of a building as Venom hissed at him and followed. Venom bared his long, knife like teeth at his hated enemy, wondering why he felt so weak too. It was like his suit wasn’t trying to make him stronger, like it was only trying to prolong the fight. Shaking his head, Venom realized that was stupid. His suit couldn’t think for itself.

“I’ll slaughter you Spider-Man!” Venom screamed as he joined his enemy on the rooftop. Raising his bulky arms into the air, he let out a shrill screech. He was going to pounce on the Spider, when he felt a tingling in his chest. Suddenly, a slimy black tentacle exploded out of his chest towards Spider-Man. His spider sense came too late and the tentacle slammed against his chest, leaving a black, inky smear all on his suit. The blow only pushed him back several feet. Looking down at the stain on his custom, Spider-Man looked at Venom. The tentacle was pulling back into his chest, disappearing back into the suit like it had never happened.

“What was that?” Spider-Man asked, expecting an evil laugh and explanation from his dim enemy. Venom remained silent, rubbing the spot the tentacle came out of and staring at it dumbly.

“I have no clue.” Venom looked up in time to see Spider-Man reel his fist back and deliver an uppercut to his unprotected chin. Stars filled Venom’s eyes as he was thrown back. That had hurt a lot, like his suit hadn’t cushioned the blow at all. He lost consciousness when the back of his head slammed into the hard gravel roof of the building.

“That was kind of easy,” Spider-Man said in surprise. Venom didn’t usually go down without a fight usually. Looking back down at his suit, he sighed, knowing the stain was going to be a pain to clean if he could clean it at all. If the stain was too deep, he’d have to get a new suit. “MJ is going to kill me if she has to make me a new costume again.”

Swinging off towards home, Spider-Man had no clue that his stain was no simple alien slime. The symbiote’s consciousness was inside this tiny stain, able to move and influence people however it wanted. It had left its last host with a useless black suit that would melt in hours. The symbiote was back on Spider-Man, but was going to try things differently this time.

Remaining completely lifeless, the symbiote pretended to be just a smear until Spider-Man got home and removed his uniform. Throwing his costume into the laundry for his wife to clean, Peter went to take a shower. A tiny black fluid moved away from the suit and hid itself behind a bookcase where none could see it. The first part of its plan had been realized.

Now it had to decide what it was going to do. It knew that it needed to go about things differently. Instead of attaching itself around his host, it would try the reverse; it was time for the symbiote to work from in the inside. It would enter its next host, give them an increase in strength, but instead of heightening their aggression and trying to take complete control, it would try something new. Its cannibalistic last host may have freaked the symbiote out, but it did give it some ideas. It should try to renew it’s species old ability of eating prey alive. It could change his host’s mind subtly, giving them a hunger for flesh, but also the ability to swallow prey whole. Every time its host would eat someone, it’s hold on its mind strengthened. It was the perfect way to stay close with it’s host and relive what made it a fearsome species. It was going to transform them into hungry little humans and stay with them forever.

Now, it originally planned to infect Spider-Man. He was the person it wanted to be with, but it was starting to think of another idea, one that might make it closer to Peter then if it became part of his mind. He couldn’t force Peter to love him, but Peter loved his wife Mary Jane, so therefore, if it entered Mary Jane and became a part of her, Peter would love it because it was part of Mary Jane. It was so simple that the Symbiote would smile if it wasn’t just slime.

If it became a part of Mary Jane, not only could it become closer to Spider-Man, but it would also be able to use it’s ability to devour prey whole to consume Peter. It could control its host digested, Peter could spend days inside MJ and it without any harm to him. The thought of turning Mary Jane into his next host was sounding very tempting, but it had to chose carefully. If it were found out, it would never get a second chance.
