Chapter #4

(13) Franz

    by: rosenheimer Author IconMail Icon
Franz, a German guy: He has brown hair and brown eyes, he was the definition of an average guy.

Franz has never been very popular and also not very handsome.
But he had a very caring nature, he always is helping people. He does this at his school and around town with sports, cleaning, and just helping people. Therefore he is well known throughout her city along the coast.

It was a normal Sunday for Franz, after helping out with odd jobs around the city, he decides to go for a swim as there was no more work to do this afternoon.
Besides helping others, one of his favorite tasks is to swim and dive in the ocean that is near his house and school.
Near one side of the beach is a tall cliff that people use as a scenic viewing area. Franz was diving near this cliff when he sees a large overhanging rock fall from the cliff side. It makes a large splash as it hits the water and sinks to the bottom. Once he was sure that it was safe, he dives to where the rock sank, his curiosity getting bigger and bigger…

From a safe distance, he sees that the rock had done some damage where it hit the bottom of the ocean there. He swims towards the rock when he notices something. The rock's fall had opened up what looks like a small cave. Franz checks the opening and it does seem to lead somewhere and that he should be able to fit through it. He goes up for some air and thinks about whether or not he should try to take it. He takes a long breath and dives to the entrance of the cave.

Squeezing through the tunnel, he finds that it goes straight up. He sees light just a little bit further up and he heads for it. He breaks the surface and gasps for air. After catching a breath, he looks around and finds himself in the middle of a decent sized opening with the pool that he was in on one side and some land on the other. Heading for the land, he gets out of the water and looks around some more. There is light seeping in through some cracks in the walls, but it is still dark so it takes a minute or two for his eyes to adjust. Once they do, he finds himself staring at something that is placed in the center of the land in this enclosed area.

A weathered wooden chest was just sitting there. Seeing it, he gets a little excited.

Franz: A....chest!?......A chest hidden in a secret cave that was inside a cliff.....Could there be some sort of treasure inside? No....no. Don't get your hopes up. It is probably empty.....

He kneels in front of the chest and opens it to his surprise, the inside was in pristine condition. There was a luxurious big dark red pillow and a very weird looking book was resting on it. The book was solid black with weird etchings and symbols on it.

Franz reaches for the book.....SEE FIRST PAGE!

He is....stunned....to say the least. No way could this be real, he thinks.....and yet....that twinge of doubt was pulling at the back of his mind....what....what if this is real?

Franz: I-it can’t be.....A magic book that will grant any wish to only me!? But....this place....it was hidden away and I've never heard of a cave in this cliff.....m-maybe it wouldn't hurt to try it.....
