"Damn, I made It pretty far." A statement slipped out my lips as I quickly realized that I was almost halfway done with the trail and the sun was setting on only the first day. I decided to enjoy the sun set until it slipped behind the wooded horizon, then set up camp about ten feet off the road. My plans quickly changed after I saw a strange glow about 100 yards off the path.
I quickly traversed through the trees in an attempt to see what the faintly peach colored glow was. It was a orange-pink mushroom, about the size of my fist. It gave of a soft glow that covered the surrounding area. I mindlessly reached for it and just as I made contact with the mushroom, there was a snap. As a large whole opened up, sending me fly face first into it. An peachy glow. Something large being forced down my throat upon my face making impact. Then darkness.
I woke up at the bottom of the hole, all of my things undamaged, a ray of light pouring down into this root riddled hole. A strange feeling spreading throughout my body. Looking down at my hands they looked a bit more peachy colored, but I paid no mind to that. I was just glad nothing seemed broken. I quickly climbed my way out using the mangled roots and realized something was off.
All the trees in the area were at least 5 feet wider around. There wasn't nearly as much foliage. And all of the trees had vaguely bluish leaves. I pinched myself to make sure that I wasn't dreaming. It hurt. This wasn't a dream.
