Chapter #50

Keys That Open a Lot of Doors

Likely... but not! Though all of them are certainly interesting to Eric Murphy in their own ways you're left wondering why you or he should care so much about finding a girl that would be a good fit with Fairfax? Well with Eric it's simple: he said it, now he has to follow through. Eric Murphy is a guy who talks big, talks loud and talks nonstop such that it becomes easy for him to convince people of whatever bullshit he's spewing. It's not that he's a liar so much, rather he talks without thinking and then to such a degree that he convinces himself it's true and from there?

Well, believing your own bullshit and having the confidence in it can go a long way towards convincing others to go along with you.

Besides, you're not even sure if Fairfax is into girls; or anything at all really. He definitely wanted to become one and was quick to call dibs on Westside's sexiest cheerleader but you can really only speculate as to the motives of that particular choice and quite frankly you don't want to. So no, picking someone as a romantic partner for Fairfax is certainly not going to be your reason and without that what do you care?

You yourself aren't particularly interested in any of them. Sure, Barbara's a pretty soccer player, Philippa is a tiny squirrelish thing and Jordana is... well, Jordana. All attractive in their own right physically and as prospects otherwise but you're doing this because Fairfax likely wants people in place who can gather a lot of information fairly easily. All of them have their niches which isn't quite as good unless Fairfax was looking for data on specific groups.

But he's casting a wide net which means that you yourself need to as well if you want a truly useful beta. Or rather, you need to think about girls that cast them. Not just any girls though either, but girls that you can get from your current spot. Deanna Showalter, for instance, is a gossip but she's also an AP girl whose path has rarely crossed with Eric Murphy's. Victoria Rodriguez is immensely popular (and immensely delicious, you suddenly have to fight down the raging stiffy that's growing in your shorts) but she would probably jump off of a bridge before speaking to someone like Eric.

There's countless others in that same boat. So who would be good for position Fairfax wants you in while also being an attractive candidate both as a potential and physically (because you sure as hell wouldn't want Wendy Silbert hanging off of you) you're left to wonder.

As you part with Tim you run through a list of names of girls Eric knows. Ones he's friendly with, ones he's crossed paths with on frequent occasions and ones he's been friendly with. The list is quite long and you immediately start chucking out names because you don't quite see the benefit or you figure that some might be a little harder to get than others; that's what leaves names like Emily Sparks or Rebecca Sykes off of your list. After some more thinking and then even more you think you've got it narrowed down pretty well and soon three names stand out.

The first of these is Melissa Adams, a girl that Eric cavorted with at a party just before hooking up with Melanie and who's still friendly to him when she sees him. She's a girl of no notable social rank, nor is she strongly affiliated with any of the different cliques. But those qualities certainly serve her well because Melissa is something of a chameleon, able to slide into most any group and fit in with little problems. She often times hangs around with the partiers that like to make the Warehouse their haunt. But you've seen her with some athletes, with the creative types, even with Cassie Harper who you yourself are on friendly terms with.

Easy to get, able to get into a lot of places and largely overlooked though certainly not unpopular? She's a great choice you think -- and not just because the part of you that's Eric can distinctly remember what she tasted and felt like as her tongue snaked its way through his mouth -- and you put her at the top of your list.

After her is Susie Lekuawehe. A tan-skinned girl of Hawaiian extraction who's as sweet and nice to look at as pineapple... and as thick as one too. A lot of the band girls have sided with Melanie over this whole kerfuffle but Susie, bless her, seems to still try and be pleasant to Eric when their paths cross. Though you wonder if it's because she's being nice or because it's a thought that came and went from the girl's head. She is, after all, rather notoriously flighty. But she's the type of girl few have a bad word to say about and the type of girl Eric would like to have wrapped around him.

So she goes high on the list as well.

Number three is another fairly obvious choice: Kristina Townes. Though associated with many of the band girls like Susie or Genesis Lee she's actually a member of the color guard. Her association with some of the band members might mean a hostility towards Eric but if there is it's not one he's aware of (much as he's aware of anything) and she's also on friendly terms with people closer to Eric like Brianna and Rebecca. More importantly for your current position, she's dating Parker Stott. The very same Parker Stott that Fairfax had thrown out as a suggestion.

With her under control that would mean an easy way to keep in contact with Maria without, potentially, having to use the Fairfax beta as an intermediary.

So you give it another couple moments of thought but finally you're able to settle on someone and text the name to Fairfax. He eventually gets back to you telling you to swing by after four to get things going.

"Are you sure they're going to come?" asks Fairfax as he leans against his car in a way that somehow seems to give off the impression of both calm and impatience.

"Of course she'll come, I asked her out here. Gave her a good sales pitch and everything."

"I see," he replies flatly. "It's just that Eric strikes me as the kind of guy who's prone to... exaggeration, let's say, and with you really getting into the role..."

"Pfft!" you reply with a roll of the eyes. "I ain't no liar. She's coming and we'll get that mask slapped on her and then..." You say nothing. Instead you flash Fairfax a knowing look and a knowing grin.

"You'll be sleeping with Eric Murphy?" he asks with a hint of quiet amusement.

"What, no! Of course not! It's gonna be the other way around," you argue.

"I don't think say," he replies. "My alpha didn't explain what was going on to you?"

"Not like he tells me shit," you say and throw your hands up. "All he said is that he wanted to see if we could have more than one beta."

Fairfax apologizes and launches into a long, rambling explanation that you almost instantly check out of. You don't really get all of it, some thing about the mask, original, control layers and this and that. You merely nod along because now other thoughts are occupying your head. Hell no you're not going to suck Eric Murphy's dick inside some girl's body but having her tits and everything else right there to play with, mess with any time you want?

You can hardly contain yourself at the thought of that and the growing hard-on you can feel is proof of that. But maybe that's Eric's own, perverted excitement clouding your thoughts and you'll think differently once you're actually under the girl's mask. Not like you'd still be Eric under there right?

That's certainly a thought you realize. Eric Murphy as a girl like Susie? What if that was him under Maria's mask? What if he got a mask of Yumi or Jenny or, you gulp, Lisa? It's a thought as frightening and unnerving as it is amusing. Thankfully you don't have long to ruminate on it.

"Hey! I don't know the password so can you guys, you know, open the gate for me?"

You look at her, for it's a girl, and shout the number. She punches it and the gate slowly rolls open. She parks her car near where you are and gets out and you're left to look at her with a mix of lust and anticipation. Her expression is friendly as she greets the both of you and she's certainly plenty attractive. And she'll be all yours for the foreseeable future.

Within the hour you'll be saying goodbye to your current life. You'll no longer be Eric Murphy but...

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*
1. Melissa Adams

2. Susie Lekuawehe

*Noteb*
3. Kristina Townes

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
