Chapter #5

Greetings, New Employees!

    by: Unknown
Mary got behind the wheel of her own, beat-up dirty car in the rush to work. She knew it would probably look bad on her reputation to bring such a scummy car to such a high-scale place of business, but right now image wasn't a matter. And yet, Mary sat in the car with one of her most expensive, and tight, outfits on. She was dressed to impress, obviously, so she hoped it might take a bit of the edge off of her nasty old car. Doxon's words suddenly came back to her...

"Please wear baggy clothes."

Did it matter? She was now really worried. Because, should it matter, Mary would be in an even worse position! Nearly late, in a ratty car, and forgetting her new boss's specific instructions? Mary wanted to slump her head, but right now she had more important issues: keeping on the road!

Luckily, Mary found her way again without any trouble, and managed to get to the building at exactly 9:31. She could already imagine her new boss yelling at her, probably worse than the chew-out Wise, his assistant, had gotten yesterday. She quietly worked her way into the conference room, as per her new schedule, for the meeting with all the new employees.

Wise found her outside the room, and ushered her in with exasperation. She hoped, for Heaven's sake, they weren't waiting on her.

They weren't.

Mary found herself surrounded by people she'd never seen before, but all of them were gorgeous, beautiful. Well, most of them. There were a few people Mary wondered if she should even be in the same room as, for they had to be applying for something other than modeling! She kept her laughs to herself, and attentively looked towards the front of the room after sitting down.

Doxon walked in onto a platform, and spoke into a microphone.

"Greetings, new employees!"

Mary was still bedazzled by that smile of his. 'Focus,' she reminded herself with a little slap on her leg.

"Today, for most of you, is your first day in employment under the Agency's name. We thank you, for arriving on time, dressing appropriately, not fidgeting."

He looked Mary right in the eye; he'd caught her right in the act of slapping herself back on task. Doxon raised an eyebrow. Mary gave a nervous giggle, and shyed away after seeing everyone else glaring at her.

"Now, if you please, you've been assigned a section to go to. Please look at the tickets my assistant, Mr. Wise, gave you at the door."

Mary sat confused for a second, and then noticed a piece of paper laying between her fingers. She pulled it up to her face to read it.

"Longfield, MARY. Room 15-7, Floor 17."

"This is your temporary pass card. Don't lose it, please, ladies. Wise will organize you into groups, and the representatives of each group will come and take you to the appropriate floor and room number. And so, I bid you farewell, and good luck!"

Mary watched Doxon walk away- Wow, he looked amazing today. She took another quick peek at her ticket, and gulped. It was a long way up to floor 17...

Just out of the corner of her eye, Mary caught a glance of someone coming up to her. Mary couldn't exactly see, but the mystery girl looked like...

You have the following choices:

1. one of the impossibly beautiful ones.

2. a frumpy geek, why was she here anyways?
