Chapter #4Head Over to Westside by: rugal b. You decide that it might be a good idea to head over to Westside. Why... well, now you're not exactly sure. You figure that you need to get away from everyone for a little while and hiding out on the other side of town for a few days will give you a chance to collect yourself and get used to your predicament without having to listen to everyone worrying over you.
You make your way out of the reserve and then, slowly, make your way across town over to Westside High School. It's a journey that takes practically the entire night as, although a wolf is obviously faster than a person, you have to be more cautious: after all, a wild wolf roaming the streets is bound to attract attention and right now, you definitely don't want that. Plus, you're not exactly sure where you're headed anyway. Westside's a good 10 or so miles away and you constantly have to stop to make sure you're heading in the right direction, or check landmarks to get your bearings. Not to mention constantly darting into hiding spots. It takes far longer than you expected and by the time you get there, it's already daylight.
You expect not to really find anyone at the school right now but to your surprise, there are actually quite a few people. Deciding that you need to be a little more inconspicuous, you try and exit the wolf... although you're not exactly sure how. You concentrate, though, as hard you can; you envision yourself being free again, being the goo. And soon enough, you're retching your own gelatinous body out of the wolf's mouth and on to the cement of the sidewalk near the fence of the football field. You see the wolf look dazed for a moment and then, shaking it off, it runs off in the opposite direction, perhaps back towards the reserve.
You proceed to slip your way through the holes in the chainlink fence and on to the football field. You notice a stage and speakers being set up as well as booths of some sort. You listen in on the chatter of the people there and you find out that Westside is having an arts & entertainment festival this weekend in an effort to get more funding. It seems there will be local bands performing, local artists selling wares of all sorts, the cheerleaders will be doing a couple of demonstrations, and the basketball team will be holding an intra-squad exhibition game among other things.
At that moment, however, you decide to make your way back over to where the cheerleaders have all congregated. After all, although Eastman had some nice-looking cheerleaders, even the most diehard fan was going to admit that Westside's were definitely hotter and in your slightly less noticeable appearance, you would be able to watch them freely... and thanks to your powers you'd be able to get as close to them as you pleased.
In fact, it's about time you decided on a target to possess. One of the cheerleaders would've been an obvious first choice: you'd have beauty, you'd have power, social standing, respect... all things that you didn't necessarily have before. Sure you weren't ugly and you weren't picked on, neither were you good-looking or popular. You and your group were always kind of... there. Middle of the road. As you look around though, you come across somebody else who catches your interest.
A middle eastern girl named Fatima Zahedi (going by the name on her booth; she seems to be a student at Westside and with her shoulder-length black hair, black rimmed glasses, and Persian features she's very striking, very exotic and obviously a tad artistic. Becoming a girl like this... that would definitely be an experience, you think... although going by her western dress it doesn't seem like she comes from a strict family.
One more catches your eye: a girl named Jenny talking to an Asian cheerleader named Yumi. She has shortish (around neck length), wavy light-brown hair, a somewhat petite and slender body and a really enchanting smile. Judging by her manner of dress, too (a simple girl's t-shirt and jeans) she seems to be a bit tomboyish. She doesn't have the pure attractiveness of the cheerleaders, or the exoctic flavor of Fatima, but she's cute nonetheless. Plus, she's unassuming and looks like someone who might run in your old crew. You know you said that wanted something different but perhaps being in someone like Jenny will help you adjust to things easier, give you a better feel for the school before moving on to someone different or higher up on the social ladder. | Members who added to this interactive story also contributed to these: |
