You decide to hang around the local library and park for the day, not really sure of what to do. You scope out potential homes but surprisingly enough, don't really see anything that entices you except for Alyssa Randall, Faye Cooper and Summer Nguyen while you're at the library. All three are attractive and interesting in their own way (Alyssa is just gorgeous, Faye's got a geek chic thing and Summer has the cute emo girl thing down perfectly) and would make decent homes, but not right now as no real opportunity to take any of them presents itself. You grab a bite to eat at the Burger Palace around 5:00 and not long after you finish, you're greeted by a text from Sarah who informs you that they're back home.
Jumping at the prospect some DECENT human interaction, you race over to Dana's house. You need SOMEONE to talk to about the whole thing, after all. After heading downstairs and telling your mother (who had just come down herself) where you're going, you're on Joanna's bike and off to the Pak residence.
You're greeted at the front door by Dana who hugs you and tells you to come in while informing you that Sarah just hopped in the shower. Inside, you flop onto the sofa in a decidedly un-Joanna-like manner before muttering the first thing that comes to mind. "God DAMN."
"Joanna?" Dana asks, surprised. "Wow, I've... I've never heard you talk like that. Is it about David?"
"Uh, yeah. You could say that." you reply.
"Hmm..." Dana hangs her head, then looks back up, "Well look, don't worry. I'm sure he'll turn up again."
"Oh, I know he will." you say, "In fact, he already has." Dana seems confused so you just point at yourself. "He's right here."
"DAVID?!" Dana's eyes practically bug out of her head. "But you... you're... you're Joanna!"
"Look, it's kind of a long story." you say, "Short version is, I kinda snuck into the military base, screwed with shit I shouldn't have, then got turned into some kinda goo which could possess people."
Dana just shakes her head, "I'm not... wow. This is all so much to process." She then looks straight at you, almost trying to see if she can stare through Joanna's eyes to see YOU. "If you're telling me the truth, if you're really David... then why the hell did you take over your sister?!"
You sigh and shake your head. "I'm not really sure. I just kinda panicked. I went home because I wanted to see my family. I realized that I needed a body and Joanna was right there."
"So what, you're gonna be your sister now?" Dana asks, almost incredulously.
"I dunno." is all you can say, "Her life isn't particularly exciting but... I can be around my family. I can be around my friends. It's... comfortable, I guess."
"And what about Sarah?" the question surprises you, "She's going to be losing her best friend and when she finds out YOU'RE inside her, she'll--" Dana stops herself, trying to think of what to say. "Look, if you need a body, why not take someone else?"
"Wait." you stop her, "What ABOUT Sarah? You're not going to tell her are you?"
Dana nods, "Yeah, I am. More than anyone else, she needs to know what happened to you."
"And why's that?"
"Because she--" Dana again stops herself, "Look, she was close with you, too. She just does, alright?" she explains, unconvincingly, "And what about Caleb? He's your best friend. Are you gonna tell him, too?" it seems like a rather lame attempt to get the subject off of her sister. You decide to take the bait anyway.
"Maybe, I don't know." you answer, "Not right now, I don't think. It took everything I had just to come and tell you." There's a moment of rather uncomfortable silence and you speak up again, "Uh, if I decided to take someone else, who would you want it to be?"
"Huh? Why me?" Dana asks.
"Because, I kinda wanna stay close to you. And I'd rather be in someone you'd prefer if it made that easier." you explain.
"Then why not June or Melissa?" she asks
"Egh!" you make a face like you want to vomit. "God, no. Nothing against them but... I think I could do better."
Dana laughs a little, then throws out someone else. "What about Darcy Whitehead? She's attractive in a sort of hot nerd way, I guess." that almost seems like a bonus for YOU. "She's smart but she seems way too... focused. I've always wanted to try talking to her but that focus just makes her, I dunno, intimidating?"
"Anyone else?" you ask.
"Hmm..." Dana thinks, "Alyssa Randall. Or one of her friends. Alyssa's cool, she's beautiful, she's smart and she's the gossip queen. You'd know everything, you'd be able to tell me everything." she says.
"But why her friends?"
Dana just shrugs. "I dunno, I figure you might find that a little overwhelming? Being Summer or Mandy or Natalie would give you access to her without having to deal with so much crap at once."
"There's Faye, too." you add. "And anyway, it'd also give me an easy in in case I DO want to take her." you state, "Plus Summer's kinda cute so it's not all bad."
Dana playfully punches you on the arm in response. You're not quite sure what you want to do, however. If Dana's going to tell Sarah, it might be a good idea to stay as Joanna for a little while to help Sarah cope with everything. And as boring as her life is, you DO like having her body and you can always try and spice up your sister's life.
On the other hand, Darcy, Alyssa and Alyssa's friends are all very interesting choices (and you had already eyed Alyssa and a couple members of her posse earlier). Becoming one of them would allow you to stay close to Dana while giving her a new friend (sort of), possibly raising her social status in the process, and experience school from a different perspective.
