He receives a phone call.

Just as Joe was about to reach the window, his phone rang. He walked over to pick it and looked at the number - it was coming from his girlfriend's phone. He opened it.
"HOLY SHIT!! WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING!" screamed a voice that wasn't Erin's through the phone. Cringing Joe pulled it away from his ear slightly.
"Who the hell is this?!" Joe yelled at the other person, worried that something had happened to Erin.
"THE, THE ROOF! SHE T-TOOK IT RIGHT OFF! HOLY SHIT WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!"
"I said who the hell is this?!"
"She's gone..." said the mysterious voice. "Are you Joe?"
"Where's Erin?" Joe demanded.
"I don't know. Something terrible happened... She told me to call you. That you'd know what to do. She's gone now..."
"Gone!? What do you mean? What happened!"
"I don't know! She started getting all dizzy. Then she fainted, and there was a huge explosion, and a huge hand! Oh, God. I don't what's happened."
"Calm down. I think I know what happened," Joe said thinking about his and Erin's recent plans. She couldn't have possibly gone through with it though. Did she? All evidence said she had. This was heading downhill fast. Outside the booms were getting louder and louder, and the tremors becoming more violent and more frequent. Screams and the occasional crunch were also audible.
"Shit," Joe cursed under his breath, as he bid this person goodbye.
