Walk to the bus stop and the thirty minute ride home, as entering the house there stood mom, her face a scowl and she looking like you did something plainly terrible.
"What, is something wrong?" It was asked, as Mom stood there with her long wooden spoon in hand, the same thing she had used many a time to inflict properly needed punishments.
"I thought you loved us, your father and me, but after taking a phone call from a costume shop about you wanting to rent a furry suit to travel and see the country while wearing it, you make me angry!" Mom said, she believing a man she never met, taking his word about her own son, and ready to do what it take to make her sonny come to his senses.
"It was not that at all, I was walking home from after school sports meet when I saw this odd as small shop, its signs boasting of having everything from soup to nuts. I had time so I thought to take a look-see inside.
The signs was correct, the old man clerk and the shop had all sorts of neat things, gifts for every occasion, and costumes for parties, very real looking wear, I looked at the stuff and excused myself before leaving, as made no plans but to come home and have supper!"
Mom said nothing more and as she went to preparing supper for dad, her and me, I went upstairs to my bedroom where I found the computer blinking I had an e-mail.
Checking the incoming e-mail, it was from the shop and the old man clerk. He somehow found my e-mail and sent an offer for my returning that same night to his shop for a private fitting of the pony costume.
Maybe the old man thought we lived close by, but taking the city bus there if it kept me past nine o-clock, the buses stop running and I would need walk home the five miles or more. On that basis I thought it best to stay at home and ignore, not answer the e-mail as to validate that I received the message.
A quick hand washing and hearing mom call "Dinner Time, " I went to eat with my loving parents.
