"Okay,Alex, I don't think this is going to work." Alice said to her boyfriend. Alex waved it off and smiled as he began to finish up the final touches on the set up the ritual circle.
"The guy said we had a chance to do something big!" Alex assured his girlfriend.
"Look, that doesn't sound in anyway safe. We're just a couple of low-level summoners, not even good ones at that!" Alice questioned.
"And wouldn't we want to get better if that is the case?" Alex raised an eyebrow.
Alice and him were just a couple of average folk about three months ago, until they stumbled upon some scrolls among the mountains near their city. Not knowing what they were, the duo decided to act out a particularity evocative drawing on one of the scrolls. In short, this opened their minds to the mystical world and allowed them to read off the scrolls with ease. Although, they couldn't exactly use any of the higher spells on the things....until tonight that is.
"I don't understand how summoning a "Bright One", will help us with anything."
"Look, let me show you something." Alex walked off to get his backpack, which currently housed ancient scrolls of power. Opening it up, he took out a scroll wrapped in purple ribbon. He flicked it open with a swift motion of his hand and put his finger on it. Scrolling the images and words down like an I-pad. Finally he stopped on an image that showed off a humanoid being bathed in light. "You see the description of these beings describe it as giving good luck, massive knowledge, and, oh gee, summoning true names! And the ritual allows it to be called down!"
"But will it be angry that we did that?" Alice said worryingly." I would be pissed if some guy called me from wherever I was at to go work for him with no reward."
"No, you see here it describes these "Bright Ones" as being open towards new things. Though the description does say we have to keep a close eye on them, but it doesn't outright say it will result in terrible happenings or something of that nature."
"So, no evil or horrible things will happen once we summon this thing?"
"None that I know of, no."
Biting her lip, Alice briefly struggled with her own inner intuition before she shrugged. "Alright, get on with it."
Smiling, Alex sat down, across him, Alice did the same. Taking out the scroll, Alex began to recite the following:
"Come bring the crack of dawn to the world. Shake in ecstasy for the entire race of man to see. Call upon the full-moon and bring the great chasm to this earthly realm. I call upon you now shining sister!
A bright flash blinded him for a second and Alex heard Alice yelp in surprise. Slowly did his vision return to his eyes, he saw his circle had completely disappeared and in its place was a armored figure of a girl.
The most surprising thing about that, however, was the fact the girl had large wings. White as snow and perfectly crafted that Alex gasped in the beauty that radiated from it. Besides that, her armor was silver with intricate markings and was a sight to behold.
She would've been impressive, if not for the fact her rump was in the air like she was offering it up for anyone to take.
"Is that an angel?" Alice's voice caused Alex to yelp in surprise, briefly forgetting about her due to the sight he was seeing.
"I think so."
"Isn't that a 'bad guy' thing to do? In books and TV shows this is like something an evil wizard would do."
"Yeah."
"Alex, you ass."
