This choice: Alex is ok, he wakes Sarina up • Go Back...Chapter #4Awakening by: Unknown Everything was blurry, everywhere was dust flying through the air. Slowly, Alex's vision began to sharpen, as well as his mind, trying to comprehend what had happened just now.
Where was he? After a while, he realized he was lying on the ground, face towards the ground, still inside the forest on the hills near the town. Why was he on the ground? Oh yeah, there was an explosion. Did his car blew up? Rolling on his back, he looked to his left. The red colour of his car was mainly covered by dirt and dust, but it looked like it was okay. When checking the status of his car, another question came into his mind: Was he injured?
Carefully, he moved his arms towards the sky, testing if they were okay. They didn't seem to be broken, only dirty like the rest of his body. Then, leaning on his arms, he raised his upper-body to examine his legs. As he looked at his dirty trousers, he noticed something ahead in the dust. When looking closer, he nearly fell back out of shock, his heart making a big leap. At first he thought to be imagining thing, still confused from the explosion. But as the dust fell, his eyes grew wider, not believing what they were looking at.
Ten meters in front of him, a girl was laying on the ground. She was wearing a white dress, though it was very dirty now, which looked like those the Romans used to wear. Her long, gray hair was falling into her face. She wore no shoes, her skin being almost as white as her dress had probably been. But what really stunned him about her was that she seemed to be carrying something on her back, something big and white, somehow fluffy looking, resembling... wings.
At first Alex thought to be crazy, seeing an angel laying in front of him. Then he noticed white feathers were scattered around the girl. "Could it be?" he whispered. Looking around, he noticed nothing seemed to be broken by the explosion, only dust had been whirled up. He was curious, but at the same time scared. And in disbelief. An angel? Could this really be true? No, impossible. This was impossible. Still, he was curious.
Slowly, he managed to get to his feet. He really seemed not to be hurt, though he was send flying at least five meters. Carefully, he moved towards the girl, each step seeming to take an eternity. His heart was pounding. As he got closer, he was confessed the white things on her back were really wings, each one being at least the size of her body. Finally, he stood in front of her, his feet nearly touching her face. Alex waited for a moment, then knelt down, his head now inches away from hers. He reached out his hand - it was shaking. After hesitating one last time, he pulled her hair out of her face, fixing it behind her ear.
The girl's eyes were closed, she was probably unconscious. Her face didn't really look like he imagined it: Surely pretty, but not heavenly beautiful like to be expected it from an angel. He scratched his head, trying to put together what had just happened, when suddenly, she opened her eyes.
Screaming, Alex immediately fell back, his heart beating even faster now as he quickly crawled backwards. He was scared even more when he noticed her eyes were different coloured, her left one being red while the other one was blue. He tried to calm down, which ultimately failed as he saw her hair colour was getting lighter, until becoming completely white. No doubt about it now: This was not an ordinary person.
Then, Alex noticed something as he looked at her face again: She was scared. Biting her lips, she looked at him as if he was a lion and she a wounded animal. He put together all his courage, opening his mouth:
"D-don't worry, I-I w-won't h-harm you." He actually wanted to calm her down like a father, but if his words really eased her fear, then only because she knew now he was at least as scared as she was.
There was a long silence. The birds had not returned yet, no wind seemed to be blowing. Sweat was dropping from Alex' face. His heart was not racing anymore; actually, it felt like it was not beating at all. No one of them did or say anything. They just looked at each other.
Suddenly, a breeze came up, blowing leaves off the trees. He could hear a bird chirping in the distance. The angel or whatever she was rose her head slightly. Alex swallowed. "Um..." He felt like he had to say something, but didn't know what. Finally, at the risk of saying something wrong, he just spoke out what he was wondering about the whole time:
"Are... are you an... angel?"
