Chapter #4

One body for two brothers

The small crowd of people call out excitedly, "Woohoo!" Many cheered others by taping their their beverages together. Some simply, but happily, returned to whatever conversation they were engrossed in. As Mark gazed around from the front of them room, he could see that Luke's proclaimation must have been accurate. Everyone had become their costume, and that obviously had included the two of you.

"You did this bro?" Mark asked his former younger brother, now conjoined twin.

He nodded with a smirk. "Right before we dressed up, I finished the spell so that everyone with a costume would become that costume." He gazed happily at the transformed crowd before his gaze turned Mark. "I hope you don't mind being my twin. There is a certain... realism the spell has to follow. You suggested conjoined twins, and well... conjoined twins are always identical."

"Wait... I look like you?" Mark gently placed his right palm and fingers against his face. It felt different. He traced the outline of his cheeks and the brim to tip of his nose. "Bro, I have to see this."

"Of course." He nodded before taking the lead back towards the bathroom. Mark followed, almost out of instinct. His half of the body easily moving in sync with his now conjoined brother. He and Luke only had two legs between them, his right and Luke's left. But somehow, it felt normal and natural to walk with his brother, each taking a turn to step.

"I was originally expecting us to shamble around awkwardly in a costume... this a welcome surprise." Mark commented.

Luke smiled brightly, "Glad you approve. I figured it was better that everyone was acquainted with how to move in their new forms so they could have a good time. We would not have been the only ones shuffling around otherwise." He motioned to a four armed, four legged girl twirling and dancing around.

Mark and Luke stepped into the bathroom and shut the door for some privacy. As he and his brother turned around, Mark gasped at the reflection. There were indeed two Lukes sharing a body. "No way..." Mark gazed at his reflection, the other Luke in the mirror, in awe. "I look like a carbon copy of you." He brushed a few strands of blonde hair away form his sea-green eyes. If it could be called a difference, Mark's blonde hair was still loosely combed while the actual Luke's remained gelled. But their faces were nearly indistinguishable, at least to Mark's awe-struck eyes. "This is so... surreal." His own neck met the same shoulders, just a few inches to the right of his brother's. As he and Luke had decided against wearing the shirt that came with the costume, the overalls hung loosely on his and Luke's shoulders, and he could see the blondish-brown hair of their chest.

"Tell me about it." Luke answered, licking his lips. "I've always wanted..."

"Wanted what?" Mark asked, turning his gaze to face his brother's reflection.

"Nothing, never mind." Luke quickly responded. "Lets head back to the party."

Mark nodded, though he mentally noted his brother purposefully withheld his comment. So, he was of course quite curious what Luke had whispered. He decided not to indulge his curiosity though.

As they stepped out of the bathroom, Mark scanned the room for his girlfriend. He had to take a double look at the feline-lady across the room, chatting away with another person. Despite the tabby cat fur and cat-like face, he recognized his girlfriend. Mark took a step towards her but immediately felt an uncomfortable pull along the center of his chest and abdomen, where his half turned into Luke's. He turned and faced his surprised brother. "You kind of have to come with me Luke."

"Come with you where?" Luke asked, and he genuinely seemed confused.

"Over there to see Alexis." Mark pointed in his girlfriend's direction across the room.

"Bro, Where? I don't see her." Luke said, peering in that direction.

"There...." Mark started but the words died in his mouth when he lost sight of her. "Dang, I lost her in the crowd." He scanned the room again, but could not see her. Mark tried to take another step, but this time he and Luke nearly tumbled off balance. He glanced at Luke, who now wore the same annoyed expression he had. Before he could speak, his brother cut him off.

"Bro, we're conjoined twins, not telepathic twins. I can't read you mind." Luke stated. "We have to move together to get anywhere; we're still two people with separate limbs."

Mark sighed, "I hate it when you're right." Apparently, there was still a learning curve despite what his brother said about the spell.

"Let's get something to eat. I'm... we're famished." Luke said as he placed his hand over their stomach. "Alexis may be getting food as we speak anyways."

"Alright, lets get something eat."
