Nothing was happening at all. Maria knew she wasn't that great of a hunter but honestly, this was getting ridiculous. As she sat there with her sword she heard the sounds of a trig snapping and spun toward the sound. She took off toward the sound, springing up from the underbrush and bushes she had been using as a partial cover. As she sprung up she saw a man traveling through the woods jump in surprise, dropping the axe at the sight of her.
Feeling let down that the it was a human male instead of something edible Maria sighed and sheathed her sword, as the man regained his bearings. Her stomach growled again, but then she felt something else as she watched the well muscled man brush himself off. Suddenly she became flush and realized that she had avoided the town for a reason.
"Crap," she said and spun around, feeling the urge to jump on the man suddenly flair all the way up. "That's the last thing I need right now..."
"Sorry about that miss," the man said and came over to her. "You surprised me is all. Don't normally get to many visitors back this way, especially ones that look like..."
He seemed to be at a loss for words attempting to describing Maria. She was used to confusing humans since her clan normally avoided them. All he life she had heard of the atrocities humans had committed against her kind, and would have expected the man to use the axe on his shoulder to mow her down, if she hadn't have learned better through her various adventures.
"Don't worry about it," Maria said backing away from the man slowly, and fighting the urges that were rising in her still. It was a bad time of the year to run into any kind of male period...
"May I ask why you're back here miss?" the man asked politely, keeping his distance since it didn't look like Maria wanted to be near him for some reason. Maybe it's the axe, he thought to himself and lowered it to the ground while awaiting her reply.
"I'm hungry and looking for work...I was trying to hunt, but couldn't find anything out here."
The man looked her up and down after her tentative response. He noticed the sword and armor and figured her to be the adventuring type. He hummed a bit before saying, "Well hunger I can fix, and I think i know of a job you may be able to do too. Mind coming back to my cottage? I'll fix something for ya and tell you about the job."
Maria thought about it, she didn't want to be around him much longer, the initial urges were being suppressed but just barely. Her stomach growled again and she decided to restrain herself long enough to get a meal and hear the man out. She nodded trying not to look directly at him, making her look shy.
"Great!" the man said starting to head off. "This way. Name's Mike, by the way!"
They walked for a ways through the woods, until they came to a small one room cottage in a small clearing. Splintered wood seemed to be everywhere, suggesting that Mike was either a lumberjack or carpenter. He grabbed a couple of hares that had been cleaned and hung out side before pushing the door open and ushering Maria in.
"Sorry it's not much," Mike said as he threw the hares on the only table. Aside from the table there was only a bed and a small cooking stove, but it looked homey, and smelled like fresh timber. Maria sat on the bed and waited while Mike set to work on the hares and put the meat into a pot to start cooking.
"I guess i can tell you about the job," Mike said as he continued to cook. "There's a cave around these parts that have some great treasure. A lot of fokes have gone looking for it, but not many come back, so it must be dangerous. So, consider that a warning, but if you're still interested i can draw you a map."
"That sounds like it'd be fun," Maria said perking up at the idea of treasure. "Sure draw it up for me and I'll head out after i eat."
Mike nodded, but looked a little concerned. Maria thought that it was sweet and started to smile causing the suppressed urges to flair out of control. In seconds she was across the room and on the man, kissing him insatiably. She threw him toward the bed and started to strip off her armor before jumping onto him and continuing.
"Whoa, wait a second," Mike tried to say whenever he got a breath, but Maria didn't slow down. She started stripping the poor man, who didn't seem to be fighting back much more then those few words.
She attacked him as if she was starving, in more ways then one, and it ended rather quickly. Mike struggled up from his bed and pulled the finished stew off the pot. Maria, felt contented as she ate. As soon as she was finished eat she pulled Mike back to the bed for another round.
The next morning Mike drew Maria a map and waved her off, looking a little dishearten to see her go. Maria cursed to herself as she head off for the next big adventure, but did she want to go straight there, or pick up some supplies...
