As Johanna started wolfing down the fudge, Richard began his attempt to decipher the puzzle.
"Maybe if I...no, that doesn't work...perhaps I could..." Richard mused, running his hands over the stone symbol.
"We...don't...have...all day!" Johanna interrupted, pausing between mouthfuls to get the words out. She couldn't eat quickly enough to stop the flow, but if she kept at it, she could slow it down sufficiently and buy Richard a few minutes. She was surprised to find that the fudge was not only fresh, but downright delicious. She had to focus to keep from losing herself in the flavor.
"Just give me a second to work this out!" Richard snapped back, and returned his attention to the puzzle. The fudge was now about waist high. "Hey, I think I recognize these ruins." Richard said hopefully, kneeling slightly to get a better look at the details of the symbol. "That means, if I do this..."
Johanna heard a click, and the trap's mechanism went quiet. However, her mind failed to fully register this, and she continued lapping up the fudge. "Uh...Johanna..." She suddenly felt a light tap on her shoulder. "What?" she snarled, whipping her head away from the chocolate goop.
Richard jumped back about a foot, or tried to, but the fudge was still impeding his movement. "...You can stop now." he said sheepishly. The walls had already begun to rise, and the remainder of the fudge was dispersing through the hall. "Oh...looks like you are good for something." she said in an almost apologetic tone, and stood up straight. "I can't take all the credit. Without you here, my shirt would have gotten dirty." Richard replied with a chuckle, having regained his composure.
"Yeah, yeah. Let's just keep moving." Johanna said, lifting her foot out of the inch of remaining fudge. "I don't know who would make a trap like that...usually they use water or poison or something, and the puzzles are much harder."
"It's almost like they didn't want to kill us, only slow us down." Richard said, his attention now devoted to searching for more traps. "Well, let's just hope we don't run into any monsters for a while. I'm too bloated to do any serious moving right now." Johanna muttered, looking down at her now tighter top, which she now noticed was covered in spilled fudge. "My stomach feels like it's going to burst.'
