Looking over at your fifty dollar bill again, Stacey wished she had a fifty dollar bill, but just like what happened with your wish, nothing seemed to happen.
"Guess they don't really work." She sighed, "There's no such thing as magic, huh?"
Having been saved from possible disaster (she always said you had puppy dog eyes, and thought you'd make a great pet), you let out the deep breath you were holding.
"Yeah. Money doesn't grow on trees or just fall from the sky." You added, reaching for the bag of drops.
"Hey! That's right." Stacey said, turning away with the bag, to open her purse. "LOOK " she suddenly screeched, holding up a fifty dollar bill. "They really do work."
Changing her expression to a sly questioning look, she asked, "But you knew that didn't you? That's where your fifty came from. Were you going to hold these all for yourself?"
Caught completely off guard, you instinctively gave her those puppy dog eyes and replied. "Of course not."
"Then why didn't you admit the fifty came from the drops?"
Her eyes were piercing as you began to tremble. You were really hoping that she believed you as she popped a yellow drop in her mouth.
