"Stitch! Wake up!"
The time had finally arrived, and young Lilo Pelekai was intent on taking advantage of every moment. The carnival was back in town, which meant the infamous Pineapple Plunger had also returned for her enjoyment, and she was not about to let it go unridden, especially now that a year had passed and she was most certainly tall enough to ride it, as opposed to just barely meeting the minimum requirement.
Lilo's alien companion, however, was less than thrilled.
"Stiiiitch!"
"Don't wanna!" The blue experiment garbled out in his broken English before whacking Lilo over the head with his pillow. Unlike Lilo, Stitch had no desire to return to the place where he was consistently reminded of how short he was. Lilo had the ability to grow, whereas he did not, and artificially doing so with Jumba's growth ray only served to make him clumsy and slow, so he'd learned his lesson about changing his size...that didn't mean he was open to going back and just watching Lilo ride all the rides he was too small for.
Getting back up after being bopped on the head, the girl humphed and turned to leave. "Fine, I'll just go by myself, and you won't get to have any funnel cake!"
Almost instantly, Stitch was out of bed and dragging Lilo out of the house at top speed.

Within minutes, Lilo and Stitch were once again in front of the carnival. They could already see Short Stuff, the previously tiny experiment turned giant, getting ready to start his job as a spinning swing ride, one of the most popular rides at the whole carnival. In the distance, the Pineapple Plunger was already going up and down, and the smell of carnival food wafted through the air, causing Stitch's mouth to water in anticipation.
"So I guess you're just gonna spend the day eating everyone's food?" Lilo rolled her eyes.
"Emba-chua!"
"We could go back and get your Kenny disguise, at least then you could actually ride something."
"Naga."
"Fine. You go ahead and start scrounging if you want, I am going to ride the Pineapple Plunger. I'll catch up with you later." Lilo parted ways with Stitch and started making her way towards the ride in question, excited for the opportunity to ride it again after Short Stuff had sabotaged it the year before. She was just about to get in line, when a strong gust of wind suddenly forced her to push down her red muumuu to keep it from being exposed. Once it passed, she looked around for the source, and her eyes widened in awe at the sight.
There was now a whole new section of the carnival, filled with rides and attractions so large and fast that it drew Lilo in like a moth to a flame...or Stitch to coconut cake...almost in a trance, she changed course towards that area, the massive rollercoaster that had blown wind up her skirt calling to her to ride it.
"Hold on a second, kiddo."
Lilo was brought back to reality when a carnival employee stopped her in her tracks. "Oh...sorry, did I bump into you?"
"No, but I can't let you through here."
Almost immediately Lilo's demeanor changed as she stomped her foot in frustration. "And why not?! Do you see the awesome rides through there? It makes the Pineapple Plunger look boring!"
"So you're a thrill seeker," the employee chuckled. "I can respect that. But unfortunately I still can't let you through, all of these rides are real intense and there's a strict height requirement."
"So?" Lilo crossed her arms and glared up at the employee. "I'm tall enough to ride the Pineapple Plunger, and I've only gotten taller since last year. I think I can handle it." She started to walk again, but again she was stopped by the employee. "You're gonna make me stand next to the ruler, aren't you?"
"You can if you want, but I can already tell you that you're too small. It might take you a couple years before you're tall enough to ride these rides. 4-foot-6 is the magic number, and just by eyeballing it, I can guess you're not even 4 feet tall yet."
"You mean I have to grow almost an entire foot before I can go into that adrenaline paradise?"
The employee smiled sympathetically. "I know it stinks kiddo, believe me. I had to wait a long time before I was tall enough to ride these rides too. But for now, just be patient, it's not like we'll never be back. In a couple years, I'm sure you'll pass with flying colors."
"Somehow..." Lilo slouched and slowly turned to walk away. "That doesn't make me feel any better." As she stalked away slowly, the clacking of the rollercoasters starting to fade from her hearing, she sighed in disappointment and shook her head, her long hair swishing around her face as she did so. "Man, I wish I was bigger now, came all this way just to be let down."
