The hug shocked Baren as he laid staring over the woman's shoulder. After trying to gather his mind and try to make sense of the sudden change in the pretty blonde's behavior, he pulled back a little.
"Um...I'm sorry, Who are you and what's going on?" Baren asked, confused on how the woman suddenly knew his name and not to mention, started to act incredibly amiable to him.
Equally, the blond woman furrowed her eyebrows with confusion over Baren's question. "W-who am I? Baren, I'm your mother! How can you not recognize my face? Come on, let's stop joking around and get out of this alleyway, okay?"
The woman stood up and offered a hand over to the confused Baren. Unsure what to do, Baren accepted the help and pulled himself off the ground thanks to the lady. He lowered his head and then widened his eyes as the woman's words started to process within his mind.
She thought she was his own mother! That demon actually wasn't lying!
Baren looked up to the blond woman who stared at him with concern. Pulling her lips together and giving a warm smile despite her own concern, she reached her hand over and cupped Baren's cheek.
Baren blushed, still feeling a little uncomfortable by this whole situation but this was what he wished for. Eventually, he figured he'd get used to it. It was...nice...to see some form of caring by a woman. He wasn't talking by any woman as his ex-girlfriend certainly cared about him, but that was in a different context from a mother's love.
"Come on sweetie, I'll take you to my work...or would you prefer to stay at our apartment next to us until I come back?" she offered.
Baren blinked. "Their" apartment was just next to their position? This couldn't be a coincidence, it appeared that demon had purposely placed him here. Honestly, he wasn't sure how to feel about that.
