Chapter #5The family are on a transformation vacation by: Yote   Transformation Land, a custom built archipelago of islands far out off the coast of South America. Five years ago, the islands were ripped up out of the seabed and populated with lush and exotic wildlife in what was the first real use of the emerging geotech. It has since become the most popular and talked about tourist destination around.
It is intentionally remote and hard to get to. The designers want to keep the more intimate details of what goes on the resort away from the prying eyes of the press, as well as keeping the guests and locals separate from one another for their own safety. As such, it is a 6-hour boat ride from the coast of Brazil, following a similarly long airplane trip. The ferry is luxurious. Your twin siblings, Billie and Kimmie, burn off their pent-up energy in the playpen while your parents, Michael and Debbie, sample cocktails at the bar. Tessa is nowhere to be found. You sit on the deck at the front of the ship, leaning over the side, watching the ship cut through the crystal clear turquoise water, drinking in the sea air as your excitement builds. Your brother, Donnie, also hangs over the side though for entirely different reasons.
"Are we there yet?" he moans, wiping sick away from his mouth.
You shield your eyes against the hot sun and the sparkle of the water, and your heart leaps at the sight of jagged ridges of green peeking up over the horizon. "Nearly!"
"Good. Feels like we've been travelling furever. HUURGH."
You race back to your parents. "Dad! Dad! We're nearly there!"
"Land ho!" dad shouts jubilantly, wobbling on his bar stool. "We'd best start getting ready then! Can we get, like, four or five of these delicious things to go," he grins, waggling his neon green cocktail at the barmaid.
The next hour is manic as the passenger and crew prepare to dock. Your family makes sure to be at the front of the line, and you're one of the first to walk down the gangplank and step off the boat and into your vacation. Two weeks of sun, sand, sea and surf in whatever body you desire. Assuming your parents agree to it, of course.  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
