You have an equal chance of finding clues anywhere, so why not start with the hills to the north? They give a good vantage point for any raiders while also offering plenty of slopes to hide.
The distance isn't much, but the rising elevation does take a bit out of you. There are several paths already worn into the hillside by shepards and their flock, allowing you to avoid the high grass and rocky terrain in some parts. As you near the top, however, you stop as a peculiar aroma fills your nostrils.
