I walked along the road, my bare feet making little sound on the road. I don't know how long I walked, but the sun made multiple laps across the sky in that time, and in that time, I saw nobody. No horses and carts carrying merchants into the city. No travelling adventurers or mercenaries off to the next dangerous job. In-fact, everything was unfamiliar. I thought back to the strange building I had woken up in. It had smelled like the healer's hut in the town I grew up in, but I saw none of the herbs or poultices I was familiar with. There were plants, but not ones I recognized, and they seemed to be behind a wall of glass, and underwater, where I also saw several dead fish. I smashed through the wall, and took the fish. I didn't know when I'd find some more food, so I stored them for later consumption. Eventutally, I saw the city in the distance, though it was as unfamiliar as the building I had woken up in. The stone... or was that metal? the buildings were made out of was unfamiliar to me, as well as the strange metal contraptions moving at pace along the roads. My keen eyes saw that they had glass windows similar to the one with the fish behind them, and there were people inside them. Were these strange contraptions the predators of this city? Storing their prey for later consumption? That was terrifying if so. It almost made me want to avoid the city entirely... but no. I needed to find someone to tell me what in the nine hells was going on.
