You are not as helpless as you think.

Upon hearing those words, you realized that you could look straight into your mom's eyes. You looked upon yourself and was surprised that you had been progressed into your early twenties, you were a full grown man! Only, you were impressed to find that you were massively strong with sharp eyes and keen hearing. Seeing your reaction, mom grinned broadly.

"My little man had grown up fast!" she teased. she then turned serious. "This is what you will look like after years of training, learning to resist magic. However, for you to build this resistance, magic must be used against you on a regular basis." you moaned, causing her to sigh before adding, "This training will not be easy, John. There will be tears and rage on both sides, and there will be fights but I will not allow you or your sisters to go too far.

"Not that I can do much." you said, surprised by your deep voice. "Form what you told me, I am helpless to their magic and potions, assuming they have them."

"They do, but you are forgetting something." replied mom. "Your sisters are powerless against your black belt in martial arts, your gymnastics, and your impressive skills in chemistry. Your father made it a point, before he died, to give you a thin line of defense against magic. That is what all of your childhood training was about."

"So, I can fight magic?" asked John.

"You can resist it." corrected mom. "You will not stand a chance if any one of your sisters catch you off guard but your skills in chemistry will allow you to learn potions quickly." she then smiled. "On the other hand, your sisters will not stand a chance if you are ready and manage to get within arms reach or reach. The odds will be even as long you use your head and don't lose your cool."

Just then, Mel and Megan entered the living room and asked who the man was. Mom and, for some reason, you laughed, leaving them puzzled.

"It's me, John!" you said, smiling. "Some growth spurt, huh?" you laughed. "Mom is a witch and she changed me into a grown man to show me what I might become, learning to resist magic."

Megan and Mel did not believe you and Mel was about to call the police when mom stepped in. "John is right, Mel." she said. "I am a witch, so I Hayley, you and Hannah will be soon." she then summoned a flame to both her hands as proof, causing Mel and Megan to scream.

"Is John a witch too?" asked Mel.

Mom shook her head. "No, boys can not work magic." she said. "I changed John into a man because he did not believe me and I wanted to prove my point without making him feel helpless."

Mel and Megan turned to each other, smiling, until mom added, "Before you start thinking about playing a few pranks on him, girls, remember that both John and Harry have a black belt in martial arts, are taking gymnastics, and are quite skilled in chemistry."

"That's not fair!" whined Mel.

"It's very fair!" said Hayley, entering the room, ginning. she took one look at you and laughed. "Not bad, John!"

You blushed and mom returned you to your normal 13 year old self. "Your father and I, before he died, knew that John was going to have it very rough living with me and two witches." she said. "Therefore, we trained him in Karate, gymnastics, and chemistry to give him a thin line of defense so he would not feel threatened or helpless."

"The odds are close to being even." added Hayley. "So don't be complaining if John knocks you on your ass for trying to change him without his permission." she then turned to you. "On the same coin, I don't want to hear any complaints from you if we manage to catch you off guard."

You walked up to her and asked, "This is just training, right?" you asked. "Nothing personal?"

Hayley shook her head. "It's just training, nothing personal."

You then smiled and gave her a warm hug. "Welcome home, sis."

"Thanks, John." replied Hayley, as you released her. "It's good to be back." she grinned. "I brought something back, just for you."

You smiled. "what is it?"

Behind you, Mel and Megan smiled, figuring it was a spell and they were right. Only you guessed it as well and spun out of the way, just as she sent it flying. Were you fast enough?
