Chapter #4

Granted audience with the king

    by: BeadleJuice Author IconMail Icon
King James looked down at the young, beautiful woman. She was asking for help for her small village. The king had absolutely no intention of granting her request, but was trying to think of way to phrase his refusal. He took a deep breath and spoke, "I am sorry, Rose, there is nothing I can do, but--"

She cut him off, "Nothing you can do? How can you even think that? You have an army at your disposal, sitting on their hands! You sit here, perfectly safe while people in your kingdom are suffering! You don't even care! The selfishness in even a sentence as simple that is astounding!"

"How dare you interrupt me? And insult me as well! Guards seize her! She can wait in the dungeons until I think up a propper punishment!"

Just then, Prince Trevor walked in. He was tall, about six feet, with light brown hair and eyes so dark they looked black. He looked around as the guards seized a young woman who stood in the middle of the room. She pulled against their grips but it was no use, their grips were like iron. "Woah, what's going on here?"

"This young lady has just paid me an unbelievable insult."

"Unbelievable," she snarled in a voice that seemed to sing like wind through trees, "all I spoke was the truth! It only insulted you because you know it! You have no idea the damage you're causing!"

The young prince walked around the guards to stand next to his father, he was just passing them when he froze. He saw the young girl's face. He knew it well. He had met this girl in the forrest when he was on a hunt a while back. She had saved the life of both him and his small party. She didn't seem to recognize him, or see him.

He shook his head and continued on. "How exactly did she insult you, father?"

"I told him that he was impossibly selfish. Only such a person could sit in his perfect safety and refuse to offer a fraction of that protection to save people dieing in his kingdom."

"Father, she is obviously only worried about the welfare of her people. Her words were probably produced out of fear, guilt, anger, and worry. Can you not let her words go this once?"

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*
1. The king lets it go

2. the king refuses to let it go

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
