Steven was still smiling at himself in the mirror when the door swung open and startled him.
Aaron, the youngest male of the evening shift, entered the bathroom and headed for the urinals. It was one of those days where he was in a mediocre mood so he did not say much except that he muttered something to himself that sounded a bit like "Should've known you'd be in here."
He had been in a strange sentiment for several days. The blood veins in Aaron's eyes were red from smoking weed, even though he had repeatedly been told not to smoke before and during work. The dark rings under his eyes hinted that he had not been sleeping too well recently.
"Something must be bothering him," Steven assumed but did not think it was the right moment to ask. In fact, it was quite likely they'd never talk about it since both men were quite reserved. There was not much love between the two guys for several reasons: jealousy, disrespect and no common interests. They did not hate each other but neither of them felt the need to get closer to the other.
Steven thought it would be weird if he stayed much long in front of the mirror and decided to head downstairs to start work. "Hmm, I could use some of those muscles again", he said while re-growing his biceps, triceps and back muscles. He would be lifting several boxes over the next few hours. His arms stopped widening when it started to fill out the red uniform polo shirt and his wrist watch got too tight.
Before Aaron had zipped up again, Steven was walking down the stairs. Some of his colleagues had already started working, his two superiors, Elizabeth and Liz were busy talking. He walked past the pair to get to work. Liz turned her attention and, in her always cheerful manner, asked him whether he had been working out recently.
Steven was pleased about that comment but was not sure what to think of it. Had she noticed the change? Or was it just her friendly self trying to motivate her co-workers? For a moment he buffed up even more, giving himself broad shoulders and large pectorals making him look like an Olympic swimmer. Liz was still looking at him but did not say anything more.
"I guess it was just a coincidence" he said, deflating some of his exaggerated muscles.
