Wolf took one of the blades to present it. "They may look like ordinary fencing weapons, but they're the latest technology. The blade is made of a sharp metal alloy. It's also vibrating, which makes it more efficient. When a part of the body is cut with it, the blade is so hot that the wound is closed to prevent bleeding and infection. The ideal weapon for dueling."
Fox also took a rapier. It felt pretty light and easy to use. "An impressive weapon!"
"Absolutely", Wolf confirmed. "And now I will prove how impressive it can be. Let's get it on!"
Both took their fighting stances and observed each other. Fox decided to wait so he wouldn't risk to be countered if he attacked first. Melee fighting was part of the academy course, but fencing was not. After a few seconds, Wolf made the first attack. Fox reacted quickly and dodged, stepping sidewards. The room was a little bigger than a boxing ring, so it was always possible to evade attacks as long as you could maintain speed and concentration.
Fox was faster than Wolf, but his opponent had more strength and mass, so the vulpine wanted to keep him at a certain distance. Wolf kept attacking; he fought very dynamically and tried to force Fox to make a mistake, but the fox always managed to evade, looking for an opportunity to counter. Wolf seemed to have practiced fencing a little, but he clearly wasn't much better than Fox.
Suddenly Wolf stopped his attacks and took a defensive stance. "What's the matter? Running out of breath?", Fox taunted.
"You are just evading my attacks. That's hardly what you would call a duel! Now it's your turn to attack - if you have the guts!". Fox gritted his teeth at this remark. He didn't want to be seen as a coward. He knew that it might be risky, but he decided to attack. He wondered where he should try to hit. He had to take advantage of his speed and dexterity to land a surprise hit. Fox took a deep breath and concentrated once more for the decisive attack...
