Chapter #4
Radio Silence
by: Unknown
Fox's first order of business was to try getting off of this jungle planet. Presumably, the easiest way to do that was to get another member of the StarFox crew to pick him up. Pressing the corresponding button on the communications console of his Arwing, he wasted no time sending out a distress call.
"StarFox team, do you copy? I'm stranded on an uncharted planet and I need immediate assistance!" Fox waited a moment for a response, then tried again when none came. "StarFox team, do you read? Slippy? Falco? Krystal? Peppy?" The comms didn't even pick up static. All Fox got was total silence.
Grunting in frustration, Fox hopped out of the cockpit and onto the jungle floor. Surveying his damaged spacecraft, it didn't take him long to find a large gash in the side of the hull. He peered inside and saw that part of the communication system had been ripped out of the ship during the crash.
Fox growled. "Great. Who knows how far away the comms system is." No, this wasn't becoming of him. He was the leader of StarFox, and he was going to handle this situation like a proper team leader. Closing his eyes, he slowly inhaled, and then exhaled to cool his head. He opened his eyes and looked around at the crash site. The path of felled trees and uprooted shrubbery wasn't actually that long, maybe two hundred feet at most. Looking again at the gash in the hull, Fox determined that the comms system probably came loose sometime after the initial impact, torn out by a tree or something. If he could just find it, repairs would be a cinch.
"Well," Fox told himself, "it's best if I find the comms system as soon as possible."
