A Gold Medallion

It was an odd medallion that looked to be carved out a pure gold. "Woah, I knew this would be worth it." Slowly, he walked up the steps to the pedestal, throwing the occasional loose stone and brushing off a few steps to check for more traps. The medallion itself was about three inches in diameter, and the engraving on it was was of a circle with a plus sign underneath. "I wonder what that means?" The sides of the flat cylinder were covered in some kind of ancient glyphs that Fox couldn't make heads or tails out of. "Krystal should know what these mean." The pilot said to himself. Another odd point of the relic arose as the young mercenary pointed his flashlight at it. The light that bounced off was pink. "Woah... I've never seen anything like it!" Fox said as he waved the light around. He knew about the photoelectric effect, but it had never produced anything other than white light, and besides, this was a normal light, not an electron beam. "What in the world could cause this to reflect pink light?" Without a direct beam, it looked like normal gold. "Slippy will have to take a look at this when its back on the ship."
He took a bit of pride looking over the saurian artifact. They'd be able to sell it for a good price, and keep Great Fox running for another few months while they waited for McCloud to finally approve a job for the team. "Just get this back up to the surface and we'll be eating well for a few weeks."
