This choice: Natsumi keeps getting bullied and tries to fight back. • Go Back...Chapter #4A New Friend? by: RedAce   The girl bullies continued to mess with poor little Natsumi, while the tallest girl held Natsumi's doll Terra high in the air, out of her reach. Natsumi tried her best to reach it, but it was no good... the bully was just too tall for her. So Natsumi grew desperate and decided to try knock her down, but Natsumi just wasn't quite big enough to push her down. The other two girls grew angry witnessing this, and they both shoved Natsumi down to the ground. Natsumi fell hard onto the ground and started to cry. The three girls laughed at this and continued to tease her. But just as they were about to walk off with one of Natsumi's dolls. A large shadow appeared behind the girls and a voice was heard, "Hey you three, how about you pick on someone bigger than you?" The tallest girl heard the comment and turned around to face this so called challenger. But to her shock, it was a girl even taller than her!!
"Oh crap, it's beanstalk girl!!" one shouted.
"Uummm, we were just playing with her Beanstalk." The other girl mumbled.
The tallest girl tossed Natsumi's doll Terra to the ground and the three fled from the scene. The taller girl picked up Natsumi's doll and dusted it off. She tapped her on the shoulder and when Natsumi's raised her head, she saw this girl handing her doll back. Natsumi gently grabbed her doll from her and said thank you while sniffling. The taller girl helped up Natsumi and dusted her off, to Natsumi's surprise this girl was even taller than that bully! This girl must have stood as tall as a teenager almost. The really tall girl asked if she was okay and after Natsumi said, yes. She decided her job was done. Natsumi sniffled and then asked shyly, "Uummm, uummm, what is your name?" The really tall girl stopped and tilted her head back to face Natsumi.
"Well, Ummm, wow... no one has ever asked me for my real name since last year... well everyone calls me beanstalk girl, but my real name is Maggie." Maggie replied.
"Oh, well uummm, do you want to be friends?" Natsumi asked.
Maggie paused and chuckled a little bit, and then replied, "Look I did save you from those mean girls, but I'm not a human shield or anything..." Natsumi shook her head repeatedly and then replied, "No, I just want a friend and your the first person to even saying anything to me or even to be nice to me. I'm not from around here, so I don't have any friends..." Maggie stood there and tried to hold back her tears, she turned her head and then said, "How about we just be hang out buddies for now and then if your good, we can be friends, how about that?" Natsumi wiped her nose and a great big smile came across her face and she let out a loud reply of, "SURE!" Maggie chuckled and thought to herself, "Oh boy, this girl is going to be a handful..."
[Later at Lunch Period...]
During Lunch Period, Natsumi searched around the lunch room for Maggie and it wasn't hard find such a tall girl in a room filled with elementary kids. Natsumi shouted out her name and Maggie heard her and just gave Natsumi an awkward wave and embarrassed expression. Maggie thought to herself, "Wow, maybe she really was that lonely." Natsumi sat next to Maggie and the two started to eat. As they were eating, Natsumi paused and asked, "Uummm, why does everyone call you beanstalk girl?" Maggie paused after the question was asked, and Natsumi could tell it was something personal. Natsumi apologies, but Maggie said it was fine. Maggie explained her story behind the Beanstalk nickname.
"You see last year I was probably about as tall as you were, then on my birthday, I started to grow and grow... my mom had to buy me new clothes almost every other week and I ended up growing past everyone in my class and soon three grades above me, I was even taller than most boys. Then when I finally stopped growing, a lot of my friends turned there back on me and others started calling me beanstalk girl, since I was still growing during the school days. But that is why I'm called that, it's pretty sad to know that folks can change their opinions so fast, just because I grew a little." Maggie explained.
Natsumi paused and thought to herself, "Oh my God, what if that happens to me, she even said she was as short as me and then she grew!" Natsumi began to start shacking and asked, "Wh-what do you think caused your massive growth spurt?" Maggie chuckled and said, well unlike your country Natsumi, here in America they pump all the food and milk with growth hormones to make the animals grow bigger and faster than normal, but all that stuff goes into us kids and we start to grow up faster and grow a lot bigger too or at least that's what my mom has told me." Natsumi shoved her tray away in fear and Maggie raised her eye brow.
"What's the matter, are you not hungry Natsumi?" Maggie questioned.
"Oh, umm no, I just don't want it." Natsumi said.
Maggie thought that was weird, but decided not to push the issue since Natsumi seemed a tad upset. Maggie worried she may have caused her to overreact. Then Maggie continued to eat her meal and Natsumi was shocked.
"Wh-why are you still eating that stuff! Aren't you afraid you will get even bigger?!" Natsumi explained.
Maggie laughed and said, "No, no, Natsumi it doesn't work that way. It may have played a little part, but I doubt it caused me to grow so big. If that was the case everyone here would be like me." Natsumi thought maybe she was right, but she wasn't going to touch cafeteria food ever again though. As the Lunch period was coming to a close, the next class was...   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
