Chapter #4your new brother by: Georgie Standing in the center of the room was a teenage boy. The short hairstyle and wiry body shape were clear – although the fact that he was wearing the same tee shirt and shorts set that Emma had been wearing minutes before suggested something was definitely not normal. After all, few teenage boys would voluntarily wear a purple Tinkerbell tee with matching shorts, which were so short that they left little to the imagination when worn by a boy.
“Emma?” you start…
“What the bloody hell is going on??!!” was the reply. You could see the look of terror in his / her eyes whilst trying to comprehend what had happened.
“OK, don't panic - sit down and I’ll try to explain…”
You repeat the story as you had previously explained it to Stacey, and Emma managed to remember that she had eaten a blue bean.
“So am I stuck like this?” the boy who is Emma asks.
“Well, we don’t think so. However, we’re not sure if we can actually reverse the effects. “
“You mean you haven’t got a clue…”
“Well yes.” You are forced to admit. “We’ve got a jar of beans, and we don’t know what they can do, and until then I guess you could say you’re stuck as you are.”
“In that case could I borrow some of your clothes? These shorts are killing me!”
You all relocate back to your bedroom, and you pull out a shirt, pair of boxers and shorts from your wardrobe and give them to Emma, who disappears for a minute to get changed.
On her return it was difficult to appreciate that she had ever been anything but a boy. She was now wearing your clothes, and had splashed a little water over her face, and spiked up her short hair slightly.
“Wow,” Stacey exclaimed. “You know you’re not bad looking as a boy!”
“Yeah, right. Well don't get any ideas - it's still me inside! God, Dan, how to you manage to walk properly with this stuff in the way?” Emma asks you, indicating her groin. Well that brought the conversation back down a level.
“Practice. You get used to it.” You focus your attention back on the jar. “OK, I think we need to do a better examination of these things, and try to log what we know.” You open a drawer and pull out a sheet of paper and pen, and start writing. Down the left hand side you start listing the colors of the beans, and then start writing the apparent results of each – well the two that had been used so far.
RED – Weight loss
BLUE - gender change / turns girl to boy
“Well, it’s a short list so far. Anything else we can determine without trying any more?”
You cannot see anything which could help clarify anything, and realize that you are really not much further forwards. You can sit it out to see if the effects are temporary and will wear off in time, or try out other beans to see what they will do.
You all agree that you cannot just sit and wait, so the only alternative would be to try out other colours, in the hope that you will indentify the antidote to Emma’s current predicament. The only real issue is who eats the next bean, and which color.
indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
