DING DONG!
The school bell chimed loudly throughout Shibusen, many students beginning a simultaneous egress from the hallways into their respective classroom; the academy's token pair of ninja included. Dressed in their respective everyday outfits, Black Star's heavy footfalls down the hallway were contrasted as always by the meek gait of his ever present weapon partner. The arrogant boy serenaded himself with a song, written by himself and for himself, as they headed to class. Tsubaki didn't particularly mind the eccentricities of her abrasive meister, though he probably could use some vocal lessons. No, he had bought his way off the hook with the box of pastries given to her last night. The out of character gesture of kindness and generosity was enough for her forgiveness. She was so touched in fact, that she didn't think twice about helping herself to the contents of her box of cream filled bribes that Black Star had offered her... multiple times.
"Right Tsubaki?!" Black Star interrupted his partner's train of thought as both a sign that he was done with his ballad of egotism and searched for confirmation that he was indeed as awesome as he thought himself to be. "Yeah!" Tsubaki said weakly through a mouthful of sugar and dough. Satisfied with the patronizing response, Black Star smiled and continued onward with his usual pace. "Today's gonna be a great day!" the aspiring epic said confidently, his hands folded behind his back. "Oh, and-" Tsubaki swallowed her mouthful of chewed mush "-Why's that?" Black Star grinned exuberantly, "Because today's the day I finally show how awesome I am to my adoring public!" he paused, "...And me, Soul, and Kid are gonna go shoot some hoops after school; Wanna come?" Tsubaki smiled, genuinely happy to be invited. "Sure, sounds fun." she said sweetly, "Me being there will make the teams even, so I guess I'm partnered up with you?" Black Star gaffawed, "Wouldn't have it any other way!"
At the second bell, both of them visibly tensed and hurried their paces as the thought of being late to one of Professor Stein's classes crept into their minds. Last time they were late he threatened to make them stay after class for 'independent study'- namely his own study, which usually consisted some form of bodily mutilation. Both of them hurried into the classroom and took their seats in the perimeter seating arrangement near their friends. They each let out a relieved sigh, the Professor hadn't entered the classroom yet. "Phew." they said in a shared sense of easing tensions. "'Sup guys?"" a familiar flat tone greeted them from below. Looking down, Soul 'Eater' Evans and his partner Maka Albarn had already taken their seats, "You guys are pretty late, I'd expect this from Black Star, but not from you Tsubaki." said the white haired scythe boy. "That's my fault." Tsubaki said apologetically, "I forgot to take a shower last night, and since it was broken when I got up-" here all eyes turned to Black Star, "-I had to take a bath this morning."
"What's in the box, Tsubaki?" Maka inquired, stretching out a slender arm to gesture towards it, "It looks too big to be lunch." The dark arm weapon pulled it a little closer to her and removed the top of the box, revealing the sea of pastries to her fellow student. "Black Star felt bad for what happened yesterday, so he apologized with these." Maka peered inside, her innocent face turning bewildered. "Black Star bought you these? Our Black Star?" The addressed ninja looked over indignantly, "So what if I did?!" he said loudly, "You're just jealous because the great Black Star hasn't given you anything!"
"I'm sure that's it." A voice resounded from above, slightly off to the left and seated exactly in the middle of the classroom. Death the Kid, or simply Kid as his full name was a bit of a mouthful, sat between his twin demon guns Liz and Patty Thompson and looked downward towards the rest of his friends. "Actually, it's kinda sweet." Liz said thoughtfully, "It's totally not like Black Star to think about other people's feelings, let alone buy them a big box of candy to apologize." Her sister, sparking at the word candy, immediately turned to Tsubaki with a hungry look in her sparkling blue eyes. "Candy? Do you have gummy chocolate death idols in there?!" she said excitedly. Tsubaki smiled and let out a small chuckle at Patty's bright personality, "Actually no, its not candy." she corrected softly as she reached in and pulled out an eclair as proof, "It's more like donuts and pastries; stuff like that."
"Oh." Patty said, her enthusiasm dying down before realizing that those too were delicious and bad for you. "Can I have some?!" she said excitedly, holding out her hand expectantly. Never one to say no, Tsubaki happily handed the younger Thompson twin her eclair and watched as she eagerly devoured it. She belched, afterwords chiming a gracious "Thanks Tsubaki!" Liz caught this, those things looked pretty good! "Hey Tsubaki, mind if I have one too?" she asked as nicely as possible- which still seemed sort of like demanding. She was handed a random treat from the box and took a bite. The same look of euphoria came to her as it did her sister and Tsubaki, she eagerly ate the rest of her designated treat. Kid stared straight forward as his partners licked their sticky fingers. "You know that stuff's bad for you." he said flatly, "You should really take better care of your bodies, and-"
"Kid, there's missing stitch on your left sleeve." Liz said, not really in the mood for one of her meister's rantings
"WHERE?!" he shouted, instantly ripping off his upper body wear in search of this deviance.
Everyone turned back to Tsubaki and her mystical bag of delicious sweets, having grown quite used to Kid's outbursts when regarding symmetry. "Anyway Maka, Black Star said he got the idea from you- where is this store anyway?" the pigtailed student put a finger to her chin as she recalled the exact location of this wonderful pastry shop. "It should be on the corner of Death Avenue, right next to the coffee shop." she said, "I showed Black Star the way yesterday, but I thought he was just going to blow some money, I didn't know he was shopping for you Tsubaki." Soul piped up, catching the fault in her story. "Wait a sec." he teased, "If you just 'showed him the way', how come you came home with all those pastries yesterday?" Maka blushed, "I-uh..."
"Ahem." a stern voice came from far below. The bespectacled professor looking upwards in an unamused fashion, apparently he had entered some time ago and couldn't start class because of the ruckus emanating from the group. "No talking, please." he said, adjusting the large screw running through his skull maliciously, "Or I'll be forced to hold all of you back after class for detention." He turned his back to them, walking over to his patchwork patterned chair and taking a seat. "And Tsubaki, I would put a lid on that box if I were you." he said ominously, "If one of our test subjects gets loose, they may be attracted to your lunch."

Maka piped up and pointed at they young reaper sobbing openly into his jacket; lamenting that he couldn't locate the fabricated stitch and declaring himself worthless and akin to garbage. "Can Kid be excused?"
