Unfortunately for the poor humans they beamed up (a young couple who were camping), a botched use of the transporter by one of the students caused a rather unpleasant side effect of causing the humans organs to flip upside down inside their bodies and then turn inside out within their skin. The result was naturally a very painful and messy death.
"Zork!" The teacher, Mr. Grablesnarglubnok growled. (Mr. G for short). "Look what you did those were two perfectly good specimens we could have used.
Zork look at his feet in shame. "Sorry Mr. G, these old RTX 3000 transporters are harder to work than the modern 5K version.
"Well no use complaining now." Mr. G said. "Alright class, it looks like we'll move straight onto the next phase of examination, something never before seen in our curriculum: The adaptation experiment."
The fourteen students murmured excitedly among themselves. While previous field trips from the Grey was restricted to on-site laboratory experiments, this new way to studying humans seemed much better.
"Two of you will go down to the surface, cloaked and choose a human residence to enter. Once there you will use our new experimental mind-meld device, in which your body and mind will become part of a humans brain, which you will then take control of. You are then to spend one day as these humans, living their lives, doing what humans do which will allow us a never before seen hands-on look into human social interactions and behavior."
There was another murmur of excitement, which Mr. G quickly silenced.
"Now who wishes to volunteer first?"
At this there was some nervousness, while all the aliens were excited to view this experiment most of them were all nervous about using the mind-meld due to all the horrible things that could go wrong.
The only one who volunteered instantly was Suzkak, a female student who was top of the class. As soon as she volunteered Zork, who had a crush on her did the same thing.
"Suzkak, glad to see you volunteering." Mr. G beamed he then scanned the crowd again only to see Zork with his hand up. "Zork...fine."
"Yes!" The excited little nerd scrambled to the front of the class.
After being equipped with their invisibility devices, mind-meld, communicator and plasma pistol (for emergencies) the two grey were sent down to the Earth surface.
But where did they go first?
