Karen decides she wants to work outside in her garden so she goes to her bedroom and changes her clothing. She puts on some shorts and her favorite t-shirt. She then steps in her flip flops and heads to the backyard. Karen loves working in her garden, it is one of her favorite ways to relax. She also takes a lot of pride in knowing she has one of the nicest looking yards in the neighborhood. Karen decides to focus on weeds today so she slowly works her way through the flowerbeds pulling up any that she sees.
About a half hour into her work, Karen starts to feel dizzy. It lasts for about fifteen seconds, then goes away. This actually happens a few more times while Karen is working outside. "The heat must be getting to me...I feel a little light headed," thinks Karen as she takes a break. Karen then goes back to pulling weeds for another fifteen minutes, and as she is finishing up, her head begins to spin again. "Uhhgg, I don't like this at all. I think I am done working in the garden for today. I don't know what's wrong with me," thinks Karen. Karen stands up and quickly discovers that something is out of place. Karen notices that her bra feels really loose, along with the rest of her clothing. When she first changed into this outfit, everything fit quite snug up against her body. Karen tries to adjust her clothing but it has no effect. "This is weird...its like everything I am wearing is a couple sizes too big now." Karen then glances down at her feet and it looks like her flip flops are too big as well. Her feet normally fit perfectly onto the surface of the flip flops but now there is a lot of surface area exposed.
Karen is starting to feel quite odd as she cleans up her mess and puts away her tools. Karen then heads to the sliding glass door that connects the patio to the house and notices the door handle seems higher up than normal. The moment after walking into the house, she can quickly tell that something has changed. Basically, everything seems, taller. Karen starts to feel disorientated as her head begins to spin again. She grabs onto a dinning room chair for balance as she looses about three inches of height. Combined with how much she lost earlier, Karen is now about four feet tall, which is a foot and a half shorter than her normal height. Karen's head then clears up and now it has become pretty obvious to her what is happening. "I am really shrinking? How is this happening to me?"
Karen thinks about things she has done through out the day then remembers the diet pills. She then also remembers the side effects and the phrase "temporary lose of height" pops into her head. Karen quickly finds the bottle of pills and looks the box over again. It says that side effects could last a couple days, up to a week. "No, no, no! Why did this side effect have to happen to me? I have a job and two kids....the kids!" Now that Karen has discovered that she is shrinking, she starts to wonder about how her kids would react to this. She knows they have to be at least a foot taller than her now. She quietly walks to the doorway that does out into the living room and looks out through it. She sees her daughter still laying down on the couch watching TV. She then walks back into the kitchen and begins to imagine how this is all going to play out. "Maybe if I don't take any more pills I will just return to my normal size in the morning," thinks Karen. Next,
