This choice: In a place that is warm, dark and moist • Go Back...Chapter #5Well that took a turn... by: Unknown Seemlessly you are laying on your back, a sliver of light from above is blinding you but the environment around you is dark, warm, and moist.
Pushing yourself off the ground you take in your surroundings, you are in a jungle or rainforrest or something like that and the leaves above are blocking the sun out. The sounds of the jungle fill your ears, stepping forward you trip on something and crash to the ground.
Gettin to your feet for a second time, you turn around looking for what you tripped on and spot a black metallic bar, stepping closer you recognize it as a rifle! You're not some gun professional but from the looks of it that's an M16, used mainly in the vietnam war, looking at the jungle around you it suddenly clicks, this must be a simulation of vietnam! You bend over and pick up the rifle just in case and realize that you're also wearing green army fatigues, you can't understand why Julia is doing this but you press on and walk in a random direction into the jungle the whole while feeling like you're being watched.
After cutting and pushing your way through a particularly dense bush you find yourself in a clearing, the sun is shining and you can see mountains in the distance. Turning your view to the right you spot a small green tent on top of a small slope and make your way towards it cutting through the lush tall grass, upon making it to the small campsite you see a malfunctioning radio set and hear groaning coming from inside the tent.
Pushing the the flaps covering the entrance of the tent you see a wounded man bleeding out on the cott in the corner of the tent, he jerks at seeing you but relaxes after seeing the uniform.
"You... You gotta.. Get outta here man..." he groans clutching his stomach harder.
"Hey hey hey easy now, what happened to you?" you ask.
"She's out here man, you gotta go... Take this and run, she'll be on us both soon..." he says gesturing to a half opened backpack filled with ammunition and medical supplies. "But what about-"
"Don't worry about me... I'm not surviving this one." he cuts you off with, "There's a base... Half a day's walk north... Take the supplies and go, she'll be back soon..."
Your hesitation is cut short as he snaps at you, "Get going! Quick.. Go!" he yells coughing up blood, you stop for a moment and look him in the eyes, nodding you pick up the bag giving him one last look and leave through the entrance. Walking past the defunct radio set spouting out radio chatter you pull the bag straps over your shoulders and begin walking down the hill thinking of the wounded soldier.
At first you're disoriented but then reach into your pocket fishing out a compass, you start your trek north and walk into the dense jungle soon finding a beaten down dirt path heading north. The sun is in the middle of the sky so you judge that you'll be at the base by nightfall, you can't shake the feeling that you're being watched but you shrug it off as nothing continuing down the path doing your best to look out for any traps if there are any.
After around an hour of walking the path fades away, you just continue walking north hoping to find another path so as to not get lost, but in all your thinking you don't notice a small meter long flattened area covered by leaves and step strait on it. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
