If it had not been for the mud, he would've been past. Speaking of mud, it had been compressed all around him. If it had dried he doubted he would've had the strength to free himself. As it was, it took all of his efforts to free himself from the mucky tomb. After an hour he did manage to free himself at the cost of his shirt and shoes. Standing barefoot he looked up as the moon rose up over the lip of the footprint. Climbing out of the footprint in the moon lite night proved to be difficult because of the slippery mixture of the mud, but once out of it he sat down and pondered his next course of action.
Off in the distance was a glow, not unlike the one made by a lamp in the window of a house. He could make it but bare foot and tiny it would take half the night or longer. His only other option was to camp out here and try to make his way in this new world in the morning.
