At the last nanosecond of Ash's Existence, he acknowledged that what he was feeling was very real. But by then, it was too late to do anything. Even though the mud oozed around him, it did little to save him as his body was pulverized all at once. As Emily's foot lifted away, the muck was already filling in the imprint left behind covering his body. He would've appreciated the fact that at least he was getting a somewhat decent burial. Still, he was without a marker and without anyone to mourn him. No one would ever know that he had even lived. Sometime later while walking back, Little Bear walked in the very same spot, pressing his remains down even further.
