Natalie was doing a bit of spring cleaning in the attic. She found nostalgic items before her children were born. However mostly it was all junk, things she would force herself to throw away, she was sick of this mess and it needed to go. She had gone through almost all the attic and had separated almost everything into three piles, the stay here pile which to her happy surprise was the smallest, the donation pile, and the dump pile.
Finally she came to a few items her grandmother had left her, knowing that this would be quick since she was likely to keep all of it she began to look through. There was her old chest with family heirlooms all of which had been set aside already, and her old desk, which to her knowledge had nothing inside. Wanting to be sure she opened all the draws and felt around a bit. To her surprise while feeling around in a draw she heard a click and a small latch on the side of the desk popped out. She pulled it open revealing a necklace she had never seen before. She couldn't remember her grandmother ever wearing it, nor could she think of why her grandmother kept it hidden away.
Under the necklace was a folded sheet of paper, which she grabbed after examining the necklace for a short time and placing it on the desk. The paper was in her grandmother's hand writing and told her of the necklace's powers. It could control anyone enthralled by giving the controller the power to mold their minds and bodies. Clearly she thought that this was quite insane, then again her grandmother would not have locked it away for no reason. The thought was interrupted by the soft buzz of her phone on the table. It was her alarm reminding her to pick up Whitney at her college. She put the necklace back into the desk and left without concealing the latch since she would want to see exactly what this necklace was once she got back.
