Sam felt disoriented for a moment, like reality had just rippled, and as he looked around he noticed that a lot of smaller details were different.
Everything just looked a little shinier, and less dusty... hell everything was dust-free.
But the over-riding change was the weird neon glow at the edges of various items.
As Sam waved his hand back and forth in front of his face. It stayed sharp and in focus, so he ruled out his first suspicion that he'd been drugged, or was unconscious. This needed to be investigated, and there was nothing else to see in the room. Sam went back upstairs to the public area.
The arcade looked largely the same, just cleaner. He continued outside. But the streets were empty of traffic and the weather was different for a few minutes ago.
Looking all around he walked into the centre of the empty street. The road under his feet had a smooth texture, and a hexagonal pattern that he just didn't remember seeing.
It was at this point that a light shot out the sky pinning him in a column of light.
"Stand still program." it announced coldly.
Not sure what was going on, he stood there. He half expected the helicopter to land or a police car to round the corner. Shading his eyes he looked up into the spotlight.
It wasn't any type of helicopter he recognised, and the sheer size ruled out it being a drone.
But it landed and discharged four men who quickly surrounded Sam.
