Near future (2050)

In the near future, McDonald's and other fat food restaurants have taken over. There's now at least two fast food restaurants on every street in the US.
The corporate higher-ups of fast food chains used their money to attain jobs in the government, and eventually as presidents.
There are now addicting fast food shops in schools, no more sports teams beside sumo wrestling, and the obesity rate is at 99%

Alex is a teen in this age who has managed to keep off her weight for eighteen years, but now she's off on her own and she doesn't have her parents to stop her temptations from taking over.

She has just taken up a cubicle job at a Burger King corporate building.
