Tom tried to reassure her that new changes can be uncomfortable at first. He continued ' Besides, if you were stronger, bullies are less likely to bother you OR your friends.

Julie said ' Well, maybe. Those tough gals on the movies do seem to get angry .'

Tom smiled ' Hey, that is just the movies. YOU are not that way. At least, try it for a while. Besides, remember Besty Maskel from summer camp. She gave you a hard time. Imagine if she saw you now. Come on, let us go to the gym. Let us see how much weight you have lift... up to your waist. Besides some boys do secretly admire girls with muscles...especially if they are friendly too.'

At that moment, Julie finally agreed. And Tom and Julie went there.

Tom showed the attendant his gym card and Julie's guest pass. Then Tom showed Julie where to change into gym clothes. He said ' Meet me back in here in 5 minutes.'

When Julie arrived back, she looked great in her gym clothes. The weight was set for 150 lbs.
Tom explained how to lift it. Tom was able to lift it reasonably well but it still was a struggle. But it was too easy for Julie to lift it. Tom said ' Looks like this one is too easy for you. Let us try some more weight.'

Julie replied ' Do not put too much on it.' She was a bit insecure in her abilities at this point.
Tom said ' Relax. you are stronger than you look. But I will go easy on you at first.'
Tom set the weight for Julie to deadlift at _______.
