Tom had decided to continue to head to the gym. Just because he looked like a mid-level bodybuilder at fourteen didn't mean he could suddenly ignore his responsibilities.
"Huh, isn't that funny?" Tom said to himself. Even though Tom knew reality had changed, some new memories still managed to seep into his mind. Earlier this morning, all he had to do was clean the attic. But now, Tom clearly remembers his mother telling him to pick up Jake from the gym.
Tom had finally made it to the gym, was was on the the outer parts of the inner city. the landscape was much more urban than the calm suburbia Tom lived in. He pushed the doors open, and was greeted with a friendly face. A face he had never met before, but was familiar with at the same time.
"Hey hey! Howya doin Champ?" The man greeting Tom was big, probably a retired bodybuilder. Tom didn't know how to greet him.
"Hey Paul." Tom stopped himself in surprise. He didn't know his name, yet magically produced it while trying to think of the most natural thing to say. "Where's Jake?"
"Aw y'know. Near the back by the heavier weights. He should be finishin' up by now." Paul looked at his watch, confirming his thoughts. "Just go on ahead, Tom. Don't even need to show me your card! You've had it for forever anyways."
Card? What... card? Tom reached into his pocket, and found a golden, laminated card. It was an ID. He read it to himself.
"Muscle Mania Gym - Tom - Age: 14 - Member for: 6 years - PREMIUM RANK - Access: All Equipment"
On the card was a picture of Tom, grinning from ear to ear, flexing his huge biceps in a tank top with the Muscle Mania Gym logo on it. Tom must've been a near daily patron with a card like this. He put the card back in his pocket. Tom looked near the back of the expansive gym, which had equipment for the earliest beginners, to the most seasoned professionals. He caught sight of Jake, curling some weights. There was also another person there. Tom ran up to them both.
"Hey bro!" Jake exclaimed. "Lookit this friend I made today!" Jake motioned towards his guest. "Meet Sammy! He's my age!"
Tom looked at Sammy. Although both boys were the same age, that's probably where the comparisons would stop. Jake was, by all means, a kid bodybuilder. Meanwhile Sammy... was just a kid. He was skinny, and pretty short, even for a seven year old. He was wearing a blue t-shirt, and cargo shorts. His skin was a tan olive shade, and his hair color was a light brown, hanging from his head in the typical fashion of a boy who doesn't quite care how his hair looks like. However, Sammy was enamored with the Jake's training routine.
"Woah!! How heavy is that one?" Sammy asked Jake excitedly.
"This one? About 35 pounds." Jake responded. Sammy nearly jumped to the ceiling in utter amazement.
"And you!" Sammy pointed at Tom. "Are you his brother?"
"You bet he is. All the girls fall for him!" Jake responded, still curling the weights.
"Jake..." Tom said, slightly annoyed.
"I wish I as big as you two!" Sammy said excitedly. "Then I could be like Superman! Or Captain America! Like on my shirt!" Tom looked closer at Sammy's shirt, and was surprised to see that he had missed the Captain America design on it. It had been so faded and washed out. Tom assumed that Sammy wore this shirt constantly, hence the heavy wear.
"Yeah... but you just gotta train! Tom started near our age, and look at him now!" said Jake. Tom thought for a moment. Perhaps...
